All of the events of Genesis occurred.
The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob totally changed my life through faith in the promised "Seed of the Woman" (Genesis 3:15), the Lord Jesus Christ.
I don't really need to convince anyone. The Holy Spirit of God bears witness to the proclamation of the Gospel. Once men accept Christ, the Spirit of Christ comes to reside in them. It is the Spirit of Christ who both inspired the writer of Genesis and assists the reader in believing and understanding it.
God said in Genesis to a wandering herdsman named Abram (Later changed to Abraham) over 4000 years ago "And I will make you a great nation and I will bless you, and make your name great..." (Genesis 12:2)
Now I ask you - if God didn't do that, then who did?

The Old Testament was written by the Jews for the Jewish to know how they were formed as a nation of believers in One God. So, if you are not a Jew and you do not want to believe it, stay away and do not ask questions about its authenticity. Go back to where your ancestors came from and ask them how they came into this world. Each country have their own set of origins to tell.
My own country have a legend that our origin came from a man and a woman who were originally hidden inside a huge bamboo tree. So, how about yours? Greece have their Gods and Godesses. Egypt have their story to tell. Romans also have their own origin and so are the people from Norway and other nations. Early Indian settlers in America have their own story of creation. Why do you have to single out the story of a Jewish nation, claim it as the world's story then question its authenticity?
Your question also shows how little do you know about creation in the Old Testament.
Genesis 1...talks about the belief on how the earth started and how many Gods (Polytheistic) were there whom the first people (pre-Adamic) considered responsible for creating them. These were the people who idolize many Gods from nature, from large beasts and objects from the sky. That is why you will notice how God was presented there as "US". These were the people whom the Jews call the "Gentiles".
Genesis 2...talks about how Adam was enlightened to realize that there is One God (Monotheistic) and that was his mission on earth...to make people know that there is only One God. It will be hard for you to understand it because you are not a Jew. The Christians on the other hand stole that story from the Jews and spread it to the world (even if they do not know and understand it fully) as if they have been a part of the story. The Muslims being descendant of Abraham have the right share the story that is why they do not question the Old Testament.

I do believe that the Old Testament actually occurred, although I'm not sure what you are looking for in terms of an explanation. I guess that I believe it simply because God is not a liar.
Now, I don't believe that you can convince anyone of anything. You can merely tell them what it says and allow them to decide. Trying to covince someone of something (I believe) may push them away.

No, I don't believe ANY of the books of the Tanakh/Torah (Old Testement) or any of the spin-offs. I took classes on the history of religion in the Mediterranean and the history of the area and learned that the Tanakh is NOT based on history, it's based on fables told by word of mouth to give guidance on how to live in that particular area at that time.
The people who told the stories were constantly in flux as the area was under constant war, either amongst themselves or with the larger, more powerful nations that took over the area and dispersed the peoples as slaves.
I really don't have to convince anyone of these facts, the history and archeology speak for themselves. The only thing that I have to convince anyone to do is actually look at the history and realize that it is NOT a conspiracy against their religion. Letting go is the hardest thing for theists to do.

ANY incident in Old Testament?
The fall of the various world empires, e.g Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece.
Read the prophecies in the Book of Daniel, and then check to see what the secular historical records say.

The OT is myth & legends--most borrowed from earlier religions--The Jews no longer follow the Torah--(eg-stoning adulteresses to death--or an "eye for an eye"---Jesus Christ also declared the laws in the OT were incorrect-In fact it's only a minority of fundamentalists Christians who still cling on the myths in the OT--pretending that it is all true.

God didn't make up lies or have his Bible written in nothing but truth.
Some things might be in parables to use as an illustration.
