Years ago I tried the Atkins diet (essentially 0 carbs,) and I was wondering if taking these pills would have a similar effect as the Atkins diet, only without actually having to give up the carbohydrates.

JANE, THE SIMPLE THING TO DO IS GET INTO A LIFESTLE HABIT WHICH CONTROLS THE NUBER OF TOTAL CALORIES THAT YOU CAN EAT EACH DAY. THIS WAY YOU CAN STILL EAT YOUR FAVORITES, JUST LESS OF THEM. MANY PEOPLE THAT STRUGGLE WITH DIETS END UP FAT AGAIN -IT'S COMON SENSE. DIETS JUST DON'T WORK.
I'VE BEEN ON ATKINS AND YES IT WORKS AS LONG AS YOU SEVERELY LIMIT YOUR CARBS. I JUST CAN'T DO THAT. I FIND THAT EATING LESS IS BETTER. THERE ARE MANY FOODS THAT FILL YOU UP AND ARE LOW CAL. FOR EXAMPLE BAKED POTATOES, PLAIN W/O BUTTER AND/OR SOUR CREAM.

I have never had any luck with a diet that relies on pills. They just don't work. Diet is all about lifestyle changes.

A good way to loose weight is to use a calorie counter watch

Keep to a 1,200 food intake

Add 1,200 plus 3,500 (equals one pound of fat) ...and that is the total amount of calories you need to burn each day. Its actually really easy once you start watching the numbers and it doesn't seem like work or exercise. Its just a matter of changing the way you think about loosing weight.

I use this method when i gain some pounds. The first time I did this I went from 168 to 127

I have been through several packages and never lost a pound. But the atkins diet works but now I am sick of meat.

For your health's sake, stay away from such tactics. If you are going to lose weight, do it the right way, which also means a change in lifestyle so that you maintain a healthy weight for years to come.
