why do some people not believe in global warming?

it's so OBVIOUS that it's real!!! especially canadiand and americans would know, this winter was so warm in the beginning.

As a scientist, there are almost none of us that do not believe in global warming. What we don't believe in is Gorebal warming. Warming is natural and on a 1500 year cycle and we are on the upswing of that. Humans may play a small part, but not anything that can be controlled. Other scientists feel the opposite way.

For the public, part of the non-belief is who is putting their face on television. Al Gore is a politician from head to toe and does nothing that does not benefit himself. The hollywood types are the same problem, all talk and no do it your self. Look at the 8 democrats that just had the debate. They all took separate PRIVATE jets to the meeting (by one news report). They do not really care. I would trust car salesman more than these groups. They are not scientists. These groups ignore the fact that scientists say that even if they are correct, if China is not controlled, it makes no difference. Do you see any of these people protesting China? Most are making money on China. It just shows again, they are doing this for themselves.

Read more from the scientists. One report this week showed that at one weather station in Illinois, since 1970, global COOLING of 2 degrees has occurred. I haven't read the full study and article, but according to the extremist's that is IMPOSSIBLE. If the report is true, they will come up with another reason, but they will not explain it.

Read all you can, but make sure it is science you are reading, not from politicians, newspapers, news magazines (who stage pictures), or anyone that appears on television. And understand what the consequences of their rants will be. Ask your parent (if you are younger) what they think of $10 per gallon gas and taxes of 50%, which is what it would take in addition to shipping all US industry to China and India, countries who will not address warming.

Then is was so cold at the end. Both events do not prove or disprove global warming. In the beginning of the winter we had a warm current coming from the south and then we had arctic air coming from the north. These events have nothing to do with global warming.

Look at how many records that were broke because it was much colder. Our weather has always fluctuated but look at the limits. Here in Texas we broke a record that had been for 100 years. Also the environmentalist data is wrong look at methane. They have published all kinds of numbers where did they get them.they didn't measure the methane . Methane is a very light gas so it will be very high in our atmosphere . There is no way they measured it, it is a lie.

Science is not about belief or faith. It is about fact. You can believe you are indestuctable, but a truck hitting you at 60 mph is still going to kill you.

Those that say global climate change isn't happening is just like the five year old who says Santa Claus is real. They are ignoring the vast amounts of scientific research in favor of their personal "gut feel".

That's not science, that's religion.

for many North Americans ,but they are used to fiction and feel more comfortable with fairytales instead of the truth,

Many blindly believe that our fate is in Gods hands ,and their focus is on the beautifull heaven that awaits ,they are not to concerned with the world their children will inherrit

whilst others wish to enjoy an Earthly paradise ,with out having to die first,they care what happens here and want to help the planet

there may come a time that for the sake of our survival the two views will be seperated in to Enemies and friends of the planet

World leaders are not concerned with the well being of the masses ,on the contrary .it was stated at a conference in Copenhagen,in 1998,by Kissinger, that the Agenda demanded a decrease in the world population of 60%,and you cannot achieve this if you start saving everybody.

scientists who work for politicians ,get paid by these politicians and they have downplayed the facts because solutions are expensive and means change and change effects many peoples incomes,and upsets profit margins,so most of the world is kept in the dark of the real things that are going on.for political and economic reasons

Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects

industrial contamination ,the contaminating effects of the cities ,is another story

there are natural cycles in the planets life
but mans existance has its effects,and this is increasing with overpopulation,putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert,

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were very few desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like,over grazing and fertilizers,

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
and there are 70 million more peole every year that have to eat and drink and wash

who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.
