I am just curious, anyone may answer. I don't care if you are christian, hebrew, atheist, mormon, hindu, buddhist, whatever. Whether you believe in a God, many gods or not, feel free to voice your belief.

Sorry guys, this will be quick because I'm in a bit of pain at the moment, I think I may be in the beginning of labor... I'm 38 weeks and 4 days, so I hope so. lol

RabidBunyip- I really like your answer. I understand what you mean by it. "God" being the experience of being.

Phyllis- There's no way to prove or disprove God's existence. You have to have an enlightening experience and even that you wouldn't be able to prove. That's a very valid point, but you are also being biased, which is fine by me. :) Pretending yes, but how do you know someone is really pretending? But yes, I know what you mean, how can you REALLY define something like that, if indeed it is real. I get your point.

And like also admire the many other people who defined certain characteristics of "God." It shows me what they themselves value most. It's a show of good character.

weatherman_1965 -Your answer was really amusing, I love it! :)

And every atheist I understand your doubt and respect it.

i would define god as being undefinable, sort of a paradox. Nothing I can really say will do justice. Some people say that god is love, or being, or voidness, etc etc. All of these definitions point to an aspect of god (even when we say that god is imaginary) but do not fully define. Unfortunately it is the limits of language that truely hinders us from the experience of God. We all want to talk about it, but the problem with that is that unless we have an experience to base our talks on, we have no common ground from which we can relate. It is like describing the color green to a blind man.

Assuming that you do have a common ground from which I can relate to you, I would say that God is existence. Everything that exists is an extension of God, and connected to God in that way. Yet, not one thing that exists is the absolute; because it is something that exists and not existence itself.

An entity which has one or more of the following attributes:
- Set up the rules by which the universe runs.
- Caused the universe to start running.
- Had some role, beyond the rules, in causing life as we know it.
- Has some interest in human activity.
- Intervenes from time to time in human activity.
I have seen no evidence to support any of these propositions, and neither has anyone else.

God is so abstract that the human mind can only imagine. God would be defined differently by each persons view and interpretation of the abstract.

I define God as the supreme being that is faultless, without sin, that gave his Son who is pure and perfect so that I could live in peace with no pain, no suffering, no sickness and no dying ever again in Heaven. God loves me beyond all measure unconditionally forever.

the four O's - Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnibenevolent....that seems to be the most popular definition.....but personally i dont think "god" can be defined...that would be like an insect trying to define a human being
