I have been doing 60 minutes on the stairmaster Monday through Friday for 5 weeks. The intensity is good. I sweat a lot and my heartrate is up high. Every other day I add in weight training after the stairmaster. I am 5'9 1/2 and weigh 194 lbs, female. The weight is mainly on my butt and legs. I still do not see any difference in the way my clothes fit or on the scale. I am surprised because I have altered my diet as well. Overall I am eating less and I stay away from sugar. Any tips? Instead of early afternoon, should I workout in the morning? Should I cut out the whole wheat bread I eat during lunch with my sandwich? I plan on keeping with it. Is it normal to not see results after 5 weeks?

You should have taken measurementsof your thighs, bicep, waist, hips and chest. You cant measure the first few months of exercise by weight. Especially if you are doing weight training. Muscle weighs more than fat. You should see a difference after 6-8 weeks of exercising. You may not see a difference in your clothes unless you are doing the proper exercise. You need to abnominal crunches, and core training to see a difference in your waist and hips. You should do squats and lunges to see a difference in your legs. You need to do proper form when doing weight training.

Just keep it up and I am sure you will start to see a difference. Good Luck!

Five weeks is too short a time span. It took you years to put on the weight, to safely take it off will take months. Then you have too keep it off by eating properly and exercising for the rest of your life. Whole wheat bread is a good thing. Time of day to exercise is a matter of convenience nothing else. By spending so much time on the stair master you are building leg muscles while losing body fat evenly from all over. This focused muscle development is why there has been no visual change, muscle weighs more than fat and develops faster than fat disappears. Relax the short term attitude and keep working for the long term.

You did not say if you have started losing weight. With the amount of physical exercise you are doing and the decrease in your caloric intake, you should see some results after 5 weeks. However, you must also drink lots of water, at least 64 ounces a day (that's eight 8 oz glasses). Not soda, or fruit juices which are high in calorie count, but plain water.

yes it is normallfor not seeing resuls yet. Some people usually drop weight in the first couple of weeks. You are a late bloom. Don't worry you will soon see a massive change in clothes, the scale willdrop pouds like that, and people will complament you on how much weight you loose.
