Supposedly, this is the explanation God gives for evil in the world (which is logically true)

But I thought God was omnipotent! This statement implies he has to follow the rules of logic. Your thoughts?

To me that just reinforces the notion that everything said attributed to the christian deity via the bible was written by a human being and not a deity.

God's omnipotence does not guarantee that He plays by the rules of logic. Supposing He exists, His will is supreme and he carries out his actions according to his own discretion.

Anyway, without evil, there can be no good. We would have nothing to judge what actions qualify as "better" than others. If the world were purely good, no longer would logic apply. There would be one singular answer to everything; thus, logic would be rendered useless, as there would be no questions to the rationality of any one decision or action.

I know that sounds a bit confusing, but we need to be able to rule what is of greater benefit and what causes greater harm to determine good, evil, right and wrong. It is impossible to have it sway one way and not the other. The key to living is balance, not supremacy.

Okay, I would argue that complete darkness does in fact exist and without light. Total darkness is achieved in a photography darkroom. The photographic materials are very sensitive to any light, more sensitive that our eyes are. Now since No light can be present in there to protect these valuable materials, I would say that while total darkness exists in that room without light, it is however true there is an absence of light too. The thing to know is that for total darkness to exist it must depend on the absence of light or in the case of photography no light infiltration into the darkroom. Outside the darkroom I am not a specialist in science but I would argue that while total darkness may happen somewhere in the universe it is not likely to occur on the surface of our natural world or even on the dark side of the moon. The proof will be that roll of film. Take the darkest night you come across and pull out the film from the canister for a while and then develop it. If there was any light present the film will be effected. Photographers have taken pictures of the stars for years and even in the darkest shadows of the landscape shows some lighter areas throughout. Another place to find total darkness is in deep caves and in the very deep parts of the ocean. Again total darkness exists without any light. With no light or all light being filtered out or blocked, is the very definition of the absence of light. To be successful to have total darkness you must eliminate all light sources. Any light sources no matter how faint effect the darkness of the dark even if we are unable to perceive or detect them with the naked eye. ADDITION: Think of light as an energy source in visual form. If that energy source is blocked out completely from getting to an area then the area is unaffected by it. In a darkroom if you do not have the red light turned on ( the only Artificial Energy source ie man made electricity and bulb ) there is no light. T-shirts and any other objects are not an energy source that gives off light. I know our bodies don't give of light because if it did all the film would be destroyed in the darkroom thus voiding having a darkroom in the first place! Lastly this is more a factual psychics question more than a yin and yang question. One does indeed exists without the other. There is no darkness on or near the sun. And there is no light in the places I have noted. It is totally irrelevant if we try to perceive that one can exist without the other in order that we may know the difference between them. The only ones that will never know sadly are the blind for they live in total darkness in spite of the light. ADDITION: In a graphics darkroom some work is done without the red light on. We had to work in total darkness for some of our work.

Imagine Planet Earth with no shadows.

That is how Earth used to be.
GOD lit it up with HIS Glory (GOD's Light).
Then Adam committed High Treason and Kicked GOD out, and HE took HIS Light (Glory) with HIM.

Planet Heaven is still the Same though, no shadows!

That is how far down the Creation fell when Adam blew it.

The Laws of FAITH are alot Higher than the Laws of Logic. You can change the outcome of Logic by using the Higher Laws of Faith.
It is not Logical to Walk on the Water.
Jesus did it by utilizing Higher Faith Laws.
Hope this helps.

There are many ways to look at this. Either God is not as omnipotent as he would have many believe he is, or he uses the suffering of mankind to strengthen his power over humans. Personally, I think both are true in a sense, and I believe he is a sadist who enjoys the suffering of mankind. Why else would he allow such horrors to happen on this earth?

Why people insist in thinking God or whatever you wish to name The Eternal Absolute is driven by value judgments?

Dualism in value judgments is a human concept... By the way I consider it would be very useful to read here what a blind-born person thinks of the difference between light and darkness, just to give some "light" to our philosophical points of view... Blessed Be! [Nadia Khaleedah]

yes, there can be good without evil. People can still distinguish between doing the right thing or the wrong. Its not as if we would forget what evil is. Good people know what evil is and choose to do the opposite. The same with evil people.

Well, I think of it this way. Without darkness, there would only be light. You can light up a dark room and get rid of the dark. Therefore darkness would not exist w/ the light there in that room. Get me?

darkness does not exist. darkness is the absence of light. similarly, evil is the absence of good, or better, evil is the absence of God. God did not have to create evil, but rather only allow for the absence of good.

Had God have expressed truth without evil. Had He have used some other way, than also you would have asked same..
Why did God do this way? He would have done it some other way? And if He had have done some third way, than also you would be asking about fourth way..!!!
