What is the mixture you put on italian bread to make garlic bread? I know it's some kind of spread, or sauce.

1.Garlic Bread:

4 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 loaf crusty bread, split
3 tablespoons grated cheese, Parmigiano or Romano, optional
Chopped fresh parsley

Combine garlic, butter, and oil in a microwave safe dish or in a small saucepan. Heat garlic and butter and oil in microwave for 1 minute or in a small pot over moderate-low heat for 3 minutes.
Toast split bread under broiler. Remove bread when it is toasted golden brown in color. Brush bread liberally with garlic oil. Sprinkle with cheese, if using, and parsley. If you added cheese, return to broiler and brown 30 seconds. Cut into chunks and serve.

2.Garlic Bread:

6 large garlic cloves, chopped
1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley
1/4 cup chopped fresh oregano leaves
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup good olive oil
1 loaf ciabatta bread
2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Place the garlic in the bowl of a food processor and process until minced. Add the parsley, oregano, salt and pepper and pulse twice.

Heat the olive oil in a medium saute pan and add the garlic mixture. Remove the pan from the heat.

Slice the ciabatta bread in half horizontally, and spread the butter on 1 half. Spread the garlic mixture on the other half of the bread, and put the halves together. Wrap the bread in aluminum foil.

Place the bread in the oven and bake for 5 minutes. Open the foil, and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes.

Garlic, Shallots, Herbs (rosemary, thyme) and spices, butter and french bread. Melt butter in low heat so you don't burn the butter set oven to 385 Degrees. Mince(chop Herbs until it looks like dust) mix in herbs into butter and spread on your bread. P.S If you want you can also make Christines or Bruchetta as a spread it goes great with garlic bread.

Take a stick of butter - not margarine & cube. Add a couple of cloves of garlic finely grated or minced & heat over low til melted & garlic starts to brown. Slice a good loaf of french bread lengthwise & brush garlic butter on both sides. Toast in oven or wrap in foil & place on grill......Tasty!!

get a cup of butter ,add 4 teaspoons of crushed garlic to it and mix it up,( you can add parsley or italian herbs to it)
Then you slice and butter the bread rolls and wrap them in alfoil and bake on high for 10 or 20 minutes (depending how crunchy you want it).
