I hope u are talking about AC signals at 60 HZ. The harmonic problem happens when u have lots of power supplies . A power needs to only conduct current in about the top 30 deg. of each half cycle. This causes a large square wave at on the neutral . The way to avoid this floating your grown system . The neutral and ground can only connect at the transformer. This way u will not have this square wave flowing in your safety ground. Some electric co. require to tie together at the switch box . In the switch use a large MOV to tie them together at that point. About 20 V will work fine but the most current u can get.
