sorry but I had to thumb down for your first answer.
If she means the Royal Marine Commandos or even the US Marine Corps then she should realise what an insult that was

The marines say (or make the sound) Hoorah. In the army it's Hooah. It's a mindless way to sound agreement instead of the many other confusing ways of saying yes.
If you've ever read 1984 there is a chapter dedicated to the purpose and goals of "newspeak." The primary goal was to eliminate redundancies in language and to eventually stop all thought that went along with speech. Eventually the planned outcome of the language was simple grunts to communicate only the very necessary of communications. Orwell.... did he have a time machine?

The story goes that "Urrah" was what the Marines heard from a small detachment of Turks in France in WW I, as they were yelling, "Kill!" It may be apocryphal, and I'm not even sure there were any Turks in France, what with the Ottoman Empire having its own fronts to fight. I don't speak the language, either, having successfully dodged a tour of Incirlik when I was in uniform, so this is all based on lore.

So this is how it works in the US Military as far as grunts go:
United States Marine Corps: Hoorah, Oorah, or any inflection of the previous two thereof
United States Army: Hooah
United States Air Force: HUA (acronym for Heard. Understood. Acknowledged)
United States Navy: Hoo-Yah??? I am not quite sure about this one, but this is a grunt I have heard coming from SEALs and their jodies.

Marines have different spellings such as
oohrah
oorah
however on the bumper sticker it is spelled oohrah the bumper sticker says "OOHRAH ITS A MARINE THING YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND" I have the bumper sticker.
If it ever is spelled with an H at the beginning then it is for the Army.

It makes me cringe when they HUA. What a load of shyt. Its funny in a big brief, we always giggle like kids when they do it.
Its almost as funny as when someone says "small arms" and we start messing about with T Rex type arms, trying to steal each others pens etc.

Kasey, HooRah, or HooAh, is used by both the army and the marines, I think. It's used because it sounds a helluva lot cooler than Yes.

The New Zealand All-Blacks are real men. Maori warriors. The US Marines, don't make me laugh.
