Meet with the other bridesmaids. Plan who will host the bridal shower, and who will plan the bachelorette party. [ MAKE SURE the bachelor/bachelorette parties are not the night before the wedding - no hangovers or puking on wedding day!]
You are responsible for paying for your outfit [ dress, shoes,
appropriate undergarments]. Make sure there is a group consensus on jewelry, manicures, and hairdos.
Ultimately, the BRIDE is the star on her wedding day. Bridesmaids should help and support the bride as much as possible without her becoming Bridezilla. Help her plan, schedule, and remember things! She should have a checklist
[available in the back of most bridal magazines ], it might be helpful for you to have a backup. I suggest putting a checklist and ads/pix of stuff/styles she want to look for in a bright pink or purple notebook.
Make sure you have extra tissues at the ceremony- 'my' bride cried all over the place! [ Waterproof mascara]

You just need to buy the dress and show up BUT - if you want to be a good bridesmaid then offer to help. Do ask the bride & groom first, many times people like to do things on their own with no help at all. Do look at the knot website - very helpful. Now relax, you just got asked so I'm sure there's plenty coming up.

Picking dresses, usually the bridal party & the bride go look at dresses together. Most pay for their own, along with other items such as shoes. You'll also have to make time to get any alterations to the dress.
The rehersal, of course, and dinner following.

the bride will tell you what exactly she wants you to do, because it will vary by the bride. the only real thing that's a given is that you should be there to support the bride and keep her sane during one of the most hectic, stressful, joyous times of her life.
but there are some websites that might have something for you to check out.
just make sure you have fun!

The first questions are about your dress...usually the bride chooses the dresses....or you go together with the other girls to decide them. You usually pay for your own dress and the shoes that go with them.....and the bride decides everything....tells you what to get, where to go to get them, etc.
You are her attendent. She should give you a list of showers, etc. to attend, dates to reserve so you will be ready for them....can be anything from fittings for the dresses, shopping for them...when they need to be paid for, etc....to showers....usually the bridesmaids attend them all....and you may want to get together with the other girls and give your own bridesmaids shower for her.
Some brides are not very organized at first....so just be patient until she decides....offer to help with other things like addressing invitations, decorations needed to be made, and you may be part of the help for decorating for the reception, etc. Just "be available"....and pay attention to dates and times...and make it easy for her to be ready.
It is an honor for her to ask you. Show her you appreciate it by doing what she wants.

Well, you have to go to the wedding, and usually you have to pay for your dress (depends on the wedding party) but you get to keep it if you pay for it. That's about it.

Ask the bride and groom. Only they would know what is required of you in their wedding.
