Apostles Creed 600 c.e.

Ibelieve in God the Father almighty;
And in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord;
Who was born of the Holy Ghost and Virgin Mary;
And was crucified under Pontious Pilate and was buried;
And the third day rose again from the dead;
Ascended into Heaven, sitteth on the right hand of the Father;
Whence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead;
And in the Holy Ghost;
The Holy Church;
The remission of Sins;
And the resurrection of the Flesh, Amen.

There are those scholars, who say the additions to the Creed in 600 C.E. is one of the prime reasons the reformation came about in 1600.

Cites: On seeking the Book of CommonPrayer. The Lost Books of The Bible. The first New Testament, a reconstruction.

I do hope you read and understood enough to notice Hell and dead are not used in two paramount phrases.

If you want the Truth.....Ask a Pagan.

The first two answerers make no sense. The Apostles creed above came before the one used now, and was replaced in 600 CE. Are y'all stating that the Apostles creed put together in 600 CE and used today is more accurate than the one the Apostiles themselves posited.

I still remember The Creed without looking it up ... that's what years of studying, teaching and praying in the Roman Catholic Church will do to a person. *sigh*

Now, to answer your question ... Christians do what they are told by those who threaten them with hell because of GUILT. They are afraid that if they don't do as they are told by the men they believe are appointed by or "called" by God they will be punished. They believe that God is watching and judging CONSTANTLY and they are afraid of "sinning" or doing wrong. They view God as a Father ... the type that will punish you for disobeying and Christians are afraid of disobeying.

What they don't understand, in my opinion, is that even if God/Goddess are parent type deities they won't punish their children by sending them to a firey place of eternal torment ... no loving parent would.

the Apostles' Creed is accepted by all mainstream Protestants, and had nothing to do with the Reformation. Groups that deny classical Christian teachings on the soul and hell might not accept it, though.

The name does not mean that the Catholic/Orthodox Church teaches as dogma that the Creed was written by the Apostles, although that is believed by some, but rather that it represents accurately the teaching and preaching of the Apostles. The Catholic/Orthodox Church from time to time has used other forms of creeds and teachings to help people understand the faith which is handed on through the Church. In the 6th century the questions of universal redemption and reincarnation - under the name of Origenism - came up, and the Church had to ensure people understood properly the nature of the soul, of judgement, and of the afterlife. This prompted the additions to the form of the Apostles Creed.

That creed is not accepted by me.
That creed was written well into the prophesied darkness of the church Jesus foretold. That is to say, when the church had fully descended into apostasy, these creeds with their accompanying false doctrines had been grafted on to the truth of the Bible. I guess. your claim of "If you want.." falls far short of the truth, as it leaves out the truth.

Jesus teaches about hell and i told this to a muslim who claims that Mohamad is the Holy Spirit so check it out too= THE COMFORTER IS THE HOLY SPIRIT AND EXPLAINED WITHIN THIS ANSWER-MOHAMED NEVER WAS THE HOLY SPIRIT

YOU HAVE AS I DID CHOSEN TO REJECT THE TRUTH-SO ONE DAY UNLESS YOU CHANGE LIKE I DID YOU WILL BE IN HELL GNASHING TEETH WEEPING FOREVER as Jesus explains in Revelation 1:1 3:19&20 and chapters 19-22 along with saying if you add to my words you will have plagues-maybe even Shiites blowing up Sunnis mosques since 2006 the golden mosque and dragging each others leaders out into the street and murdering them, along with those who reject Jesus words to love your enemies-let alone kill the infadels by muslim terrorists.

YOU SAY YOU BELIEVE JESUS but u dont-you say that the HOLY SPIRIT who is the promised comforter John chapters 12&14 -is not the Holy Spirit that we recieve when we pray and let Jesus into our heart to forgive our sins repenting and be born again with Jesus now our best friend John chapter 3 & 10 also.

You hold to a man that would be in prison today -when Jesus said one man for one woman-Mohamed chose a 9 year old little girl to join against Jesus teachings with his other wives when he was 40.

Jesus is my savior Messiah as Isaiah promised and best friend

Isaiah 9:6 "Unto us a child is born a Son is given, and he will be almighty God and the prince of peace."\

I have Jesus in my heart-prayin for you too beyond mens creeds to Jesus faith and belief.

My God is not a weapon to be wielded by any man. No one can use him as a threat against me. I know there are many who try to do this but it is in vain on their part.
