They have to transport dogs and alcohol (not people *drinking* alcohol, mind) or face some very real consequences now. And I'm SO GLAD. If they were allowed to keep this up, there would have been a real slippery slope effect, I think.

I guess I think that being a taxi driver that works an international airport is a bad idea if one needs to avoid certain aspects of society. If you think about it, cab drivers - not just Muslims - could start refusing rides for any number of things based on personal beliefs; i.e. no homosexual couples, no women in skimpy clothes; or whatever a person's religious beliefs may be. In a service-oriented job, that just can't work.

I am in agreement that these people need to either pick up whoever needs the ride and can pay for it, or they need to find a different job that better suits his/her beliefs.

For the record, I believe in religious freedom. But again, in a service-oriented profession, being selective based on personal beliefs isn't always possible and generally not legal.

Why people ask Muslims anting, they will just tell you things to accommodate themselves and then to do completely different, they are not interested in real conversations or topics they just want to tell you what to do, what to think...you don't see their countries?, is still something unclear, place for any doubt, look the Persian Empire where it went since became Muslim, and you already understand everything else...look where Europe got after kick them out and you will understand the rest... Islam is a decease...

Drink Alcohol yes, haram non-alcohol and non-pork and non-blood (non disgusting), No Sex before marriage: haram. About asking food as halal had been a custom since they never even see any pork around :), and nobody doesn't need food. People need to eat. When they go to the west, perhaps their curious.

This is justice against discrimination. Even that said, if said taxi drivers had clearly posted, with company approval, that they do not service customers with dogs or alocohol, or maybe some other things, then I wouldn't have a problem with that. I believe that those taxi companies would go out of business quickly though.

Increasingly we (Minnesotans) are having some cultural clash issues with an overwhelming number of Somali immigrants. I usually think that immigration (legal) is really good for America but there are times when I get a little fed up with our new neighbors. I am glad that they are reigning in the chaos.

Here in the Northeast, there are plenty of muslim-owned gas and convenient stores that sell beer, porn, etc, and these merchants seem to have no problem.

while I commend the desire to adhere to principles, these men did choose to live and work in a secular society. Now they can choose to follow US law and custom, take the fines, or find new work. I wish them well in their choices.

I think that with it being their job... they need to do what the law says... and they cannot discriminate based on those things. if they cannot 'do the job' because of their religion, then they need to find another job.

freedom of religion does not mean 'freedom from the laws of the land' which some people think.... we still must obey the laws of the land or be judged by those very laws

Its hard for muslims who try to follow their religion properly in a world where despite being resilient they still have to face this sort of problems

We have to keep away from anything that is not allowed, including working in a place where liquor is being sold

then you get a story like this, i mean for god sake get a cab who will take your dog or carry liquor, don't you people have any respect for others?
