Did you go vegetarian to lose weight???

I would suggest cuting soda from your diet, If you can't completly cut it out, try cutting back to 1 serving a day (Not a full 20oz bottle)

To lose weight and keep it off you have to make a lifestyle change.

Their is no miracle Exercise, What ever you like to do is what you should do. so if it is swimming, biking, sports, weight lifting, whatever, as long as you are being active You will lose weight.

There are three forms of exercise: cardiovascular, strength-building, and flexibility. Cardiovascular exercise is also known as aerobic exercise. For example, walking, jogging, swimming, and cycling are aerobic activities. These types of exercises drive your body to use oxygen more efficiently and deliver maximum benefits to your heart, lungs, and circulatory system. A simple definition of cardiovascular exercise is any exercise that raises your heart rate to a level where you can still talk, but you start to sweat a little. At least 20 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 3 or 4 days a week should be enough to maintain a good fitness level. Any movement is good, even house or yard work. But if your goal is to lose weight, you will need to do some form of cardiovascular exercise for 5 or more days a week for 30 to 45 minutes or longer.

Strength-building exercises are known as anaerobic exercise. Anaerobic exercise does not have cardiovascular benefits, but it makes your muscles and bones stronger. Strength-building exercises require short, intense effort. People who lift weight or use any type of equipment that requires weights are doing strength-building exercise. Strength-building exercise makes your muscles and bones stronger and increases your metabolism. Strength exercises also make your muscles larger. Your muscles use calories for energy even when your body is at rest. So, by increasing your muscle mass, you are burning more calories all of the time. If you strength train regularly, you will find that your body looks leaner and you will loose fat. Strength building exercises should be performed 2 to 3 times a week for best results. Always warm up your muscles for 5 to 10 minutes before you begin lifting any type of weight or before performing any resistance exercises.

Flexibility exercises, which are also anaerobic, tone your muscles through stretching and can prevent muscle and joint problems later in life. A well balanced exercise program should include some type of each exercise from each category.

Another key to weightloss is eating in moderation. Do Not say no sweets because that will make you want them even more, and when you cave in and have 1 scoop of icecream, you will probbaly end up binging on it because, "What the heck you already ruined your Diet Right?" So eat everything in moderation. Also eat slow, it takes your body about 30 min to realize it is full so keep that in mind.

You can't lose weight, fast, and keep it off. In order to be healthy you should lose between 1 and two pounds a week

GOOD LUCK! I Hope This Helps

Sounds like you are already aware of some of the issues: the french fries and the sodas.

It is not necessary to be vegan or even vegetarian to lose weight (although I am a vegetarian).

Replace sodas with water or iced tea (no calories); include veggies and/or fruits at every meal; and cut back on the fries and other junk food--perhaps have those on occasional bases. I've found that I do not even like junk food anymore. Find joys other than food: learn to dance, join a sports team, participate in hikes in your area, etc. The best exercises are those that are fun and that you look forward to doing.

Take care.

Yes, less junk food, more fruit and vegetables. Make sure you get enough protein. Tofu, nuts and beans are good sources. A lot of vegetarians don't get enough iron, so get your blood iron levels checked and take iron suppliments if you need them.

Junk food is high in refined carbohydrates that can make you fat if you eat it too often. Brown rice is a good source of healthy carbohydrates.

Whether or not you go totally vegan is a personal choice. I don't think it's healthier, it's more about trying to totally avoid animal exploitation. However it's a very restricted lifestyle that can make it more difficult to eat out or be a dinner guest in someone else's house. Maybe you could just eat the salad and then you'd be really hungry.

OK, sounds like you think that just stopping eating meat will help you lose weight. You may be on the right track, but you need to eat more fresh veggies, no french fries, no junk food, and go for water or green tea. Fried food is bad!!!! Even if it doesn't have meat in it!! And even if you lose weight, you may not be that healthy, because you aren't getting protein, you need protein to make muscle. There are a lot of unhealthy skinny people out there, they have no muscle, and eventually that will hurt you, remember your heart is a muscle. So, my advice...no fried...try baked instead, use Olive Oil instead of vegetable oil, quit the soda..if you have to go for diet soda's. Cut your calorie intake to around 1500 calories and just get more physically active!!! Good Luck!!!

Well, right away I would say that you eat way too much fat and sugar. If you are only vegetarian because you think meat is keeping you heavy, then you can go back to eating meat (lean meat, that is) and cut out the fries and soda. Vegan won't help either if you still select the things in that diet that are fattening and unhealthy.

You don't have to eat distasteful food, but you do need to find alternatives to the things that are keeping you unhealthy, like greasy fries and sugary soda. If it's the bubbly part of the soda that you like find some seltzer water and mix it with a fruit juice or juice cocktail for a healthy substitute. I wouldn't recommend anything with aspartame in it because it has been proven very unhealthy. Maybe that new splenda Coke? I've had it and it isn't nearly as bad as the regualr diet stuff.

As for the fries, get some of the bagged frozen ones at the store, spray them down with some buttery cooking spray, and bake them at home. I like to nuke them until they are hot, then put them in the oven. It cuts prep time and ensures that they are heated through.

As for exercises, cardio is the way to go for fast burn. but you won't keep it off without some muscle, too. Slim muscle, not bulky muscle. Get yourself some water bottles and use them as weights. Do chest presses, lunges, tricep extensions, bicep curls, etc. Or join a pilates class. It's lots of fun. There are also tons of dvds out there - some pretty cheap.

A great pilates tummy exercise is to lay flat on the floor on your back with arms straight at your sides. Lift fingertips a couple of inches off the floor and raise your head as though you were looking at your feet, but don't sit up. Now point your toes, straighten your legs, and slowly, with control, raise your legs up to a 90 degree angle and lower them again. Breathe in as you lower and out as you raise. Do more than 15 reps of this and whatever other exercises you do to avoid adding bulk.

Just remember, you MUST stop eating the greasy stuff if you want to be healthier and slimmer. Eat some good fats like olive oil and nuts in moderation, but stay away from animal fats and processed vegetable oils such as those found in fast food. Also watch out for too much sugar. Moderation is the key here. Habits have to be chaged if you want to see your body change. And whether you eat meat or not (I'm a vegetarian, too) eat lean.

I hope you reach your goal! Blessings!

you need to exercise some self-control and cut out the soda, fries and junk food.

becoming a vegetarian doesn't automatically cause one to lose weight. there are just as many overweight vegetarians as there are omnivores when there is a caloric excess in the diet

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
