The absolute cheapest lightest beer you have. At the restaurant I used to make my beer batter with Old Mil Light or Busch Light. The coating always came out so light and fluffy after frying.
My husband didn't believe me when I said I could deep fry my own fish. I used Miller Lite for it and he was totally in love. Cheaper the better!

I would use regular beer by that I mean Bud, Miller, or any other beer if you really want to make the fish and chips better use good panko and spice it up with some good seasoning beer is your wet ingredient so soak your fish in it for a little while in the frige.

Any cheap beer is fine. It tastes the same whether you use good or cheap beer.
I don't usually have cheap beer in the house though. I usually use my Miller Genuine Draft or some Corona Extra, but true beer lovers would freak knowing you used such great beer on a fish recipe, lol!

I would use a domestic beer like Bud or Coors, Miller, Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Strong beers like Corona will over power the dish.

get a 20 oz single bottle of the cheepest beer you can find. that works best. and leave the bottle open for a while to go flat. an ale or a lager , not a dark, unless you want a somewhat over powering flavor.

I agree. It typically doesn't matter which type of beer you use. I always used Miller, Bud or Coors light. I can't imagine using a dark lager like Guinness or Shiner.
Use your best judgement and use whatever is handy and go with it.

I worked in a four diamond resort hotel and we always used
a pale ale this gives the batter a nice rich flavour and really gives the batter a nice color as well. i would recommend
Okanagan Springs Pale Ale, Sleemans, or any pale ale or
rich lager like Bud, Molson, or Kokanee.
