I have a couple questions so please bear with me =) My son will be 6 months old on Tues.He has been sleeping through the night for about 3 months.Recently he has started to wake up at night to eat again (about every 3 hrs.)It has been a shock to me that he has started doing this.I try to soothe him back to sleep (rubbing his belly, Shhhing him, etc.) But he just gets pretty pissed until I feed him.He immediately goes back to sleep (thank God).I havent started him on solids yet.I will start him in just a couple days if not sooner. I know the experts say to only give an ounce or two of rice cereal to start out.Did any of you give your baby alittle more to help tie them over at night? Did you give them one meal or 2 starting out?I know they say that it hasnt been proved that solids actually help babies sleep longer. But did your baby sleep longer when you started on rice cereal. Why do you think my son is waking up to eat again?I hope feeind him solids will help. Thanks so much for your time

he is hungry and this is a growth spurt age, 6 months. i started rice 1 tablespoon in am for 3 days and 2ND feeding in pm for 3 days then 2 tablespoons for 3 days then 2 times a day one in am and one at pm. some say start it at night but i didn't know how his belly would handle it so better to be awake for him. i started at 4 and a half months now hes 5 months 1 week and he sleeps 12 hours at night and 3 naps a day. a full baby is a happy baby.

All babies have growth spurts at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months- so this should be temporary. Add 1 or 2 ounces to the evening formula.
I started my babies on rice cereal at 6 months. Mix it with formula/breast milk until it is about as thick as gravy, and slightly [ a little above room temp ] warm. He will probably only eat 1-2 tablespoons full the first time.
Make sure he is sitting 'upright' as in his carseat or his swing.
Using an infant spoon [tiny] place about a third of a spoonful in his month. Use a bib, and have a wet paper towel handy.
He will try to push the food out with his tongue, this is normal.
Your job is to scoop it off his chin and put it back in!
[Take pix or videos.]
I started with one meal a day, at night. Sometimes it helps them sleep, sometimes it doesn't. When it came time to add fruits, I fed them at breakfast; then veggies for lunch, then doubled up [fruit and cereal for breakfast, meat and veggies for lunch, etc.]
Make sure Dad learns how to feed him, too.
Try only one new cereal a week; try only one new fruit or veg every three days [ so you can pinpoint problem foods].
