I am a Christian and do not go around preaching or pushing my opinions on others, but I know others do get "in your face" sometimes and this seems to annoy people and they don't understand why Christians do this.
Hear is something I have told friends before. Suppose you are a scientist and you discovered a cure for everything...literally everything (remember this is hypothetically speaking) in one pill. No one believes you, they tell you that you are crazy. You are positive that you are right. Now how far would you go to convince people about this cure? What would you do to save all those lives? Would you feel responsible to make others listen?
I believe this is how a lot of Christians feel, and they are willing to get on a street corner etc to tell others about their "cure". Is that so wrong?
So how far would you go?

I understand most peoples points about this "pill' would be able to have evidence that is concrete...and I agree that people should not FORCE their opinion. What I was trying to do was just try and show people that some Christians are just really trying to "save" people.
I am totally for letting people decide things for themselves. I was just hoping that my analogy would help people to have a bit more tolerence and understanding.

If I invented such a pill, I (1) would not call other medical researchers "evil" or try to discredfit their efforts, (2) I would invite all to participate in a blind scientific study to prove which cure actually does work the beest, (3) I would commend thge efforts and intentions of any of my peers that have made advances in the field, and suggest we all work together on the next obstacle that would face human health (whatever it might be).
I do understand that many Christians DO have good intentions. But (1) their results are questionable at best, and (2) many do not play well with others.
Thank you for your intelligent question.

The problem with the question you've posed is that a pill that created a cure is a tangible physical "thing."
A religious belief is based upon your personal decision that the information provided is "true" and therefore valid.
If everyone took the pill you've suggested above and were cured the evidence would be undeniable - non-disputable.
Not to be offensive in any way, I think as many people have taken the religion "pill" (in a million forms and flavors) and found that it did not work (for them) as have those who have found it to be the answer to what ailed them. Thus the religion dispute continues into eternity.

If I had really found a cure for cancer, I would be able to prove it. Which means I could write it up in a medical journal, other people could test it, and everyone would believe me. No scientist who can actually prove their results has to go to the street and try to convince people. Science has ways set up for the good results to become public.
And if I thought I had the cure but no journal would publish it and I couldn't prove it, I would have to conclude that yes, I was crazy. And if you think you know god but can't prove it, then maybe you should consider that too.

How can they deciede for themselves? God gives the grace for people to either know the truth or not. It is under the grace of God we believe without seeing. For all others their hearts are heard, their eyes are blind, and their ears are death. And my answer is hey if i told them I had a cure told them all about the cure, if they thought I was crazy, and did not believe me, I would do as Jesus said "Shake the dust off my feet as I leave their town, because their fate is going to be much worse than that of Sodom and Gommorea". No sense trying to force someone to know something they want no part of.

Finding a cure for disease and religion is not a fair comparison. Religion is considered to some an opinion, I know that I do not like other's opinions forced on me. Anyone who is comfortable in their faith will not feel the need to force those opinions on others.

I don't think it is wrong to have a Missionary come up to you, they do it for a job. But just the I had a guy come up to my door tellin me to join a different religion. I said that I was a Christian and shut the door. He came back and did it again! Now that annoys me.

I would go as far as God asks me...
but no matter what it is that you try to 'help people' find.... whether it is Jesus... or a miracle cure... many want 'proof' and won't take witnesses as that proof... nor media coverage (media is tainted, yanno!)
only those who God has opened up to hearing will hear and accept
and we, as humans cannot 'make' anyone accept anything... we can only plant a seed. and if we do so with poisonous words of condemnation, we may as well be burning the very seed we are trying the plant

I would go as far as God directs me to go. I have preached in the streets, in prisons, in rehabilitation centers, and have shared the gospel in many various and sundry places and under many different circumstances.
One thing I can tell you is this. If I am doing one on one ministry to someone and they say they don't want to hear it I leave them alone. We are to be as wise as serpents and harmless as doves. If they are not ready to receive Christ as their Saviour we cannot make them and pushing them drives them farther and farther away from the Lord. There is no sense to that.
Street preaching is something different. If the Lord calls me to do street preaching no man can shut me down. If I were arrested for street preaching I would go into the prisons and share the gospel. I will never shut down until the Lord takes me home.
I was in Florida ministering outside a shopping mall once and
the manager of the mall called the police and lied about what we were doing. 137 of us were arrested in the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." (what a lie and deception)!
The great thing about that was how the devil suffered a black eye in his plans to get us off the streets. While we were in prison we were thrown in with the felons (they didn't like us singing and praising God in prison) - two men who were on trial for murder got saved and many others were touched by the power of God.
My rule of thumb on witnessing is this: If you are breathing and
still have life in your body and are close enough to me to talk with, and give me an opening to share the beauty of Christ with you and how wonderful His salvation is I will be excited to share the message with you. I will go anywhere under any conditions if by doing so I can reach one person with the truth of the gospel and deliver them from spiritual darkness. It is only right - my Saviour came and did far more for me!

But if you had a "miracle pill" to cure everything, you would have scientific proof that your pill is something we all need, no one would be able to dispute it. Religion is a completely different story.
