I have an essay to write for a scholarship, but its somewhat vague. The requirement is as follows:

1. Write a letter to the committee why you should be selected as a scholarship recipient. Please indicate on the letter your plans for next year.

Well I've done these sort of things before, but they normally provide a scholarship criteria, and I can describe how I am an example of the criteria. This scholarship is different though. The only thing it states is that the scholarship is made in dedication of a man who believed the importance of being a good group/team member and that we should make the most of our opportunities. So do I address these characteristics? And how shoudl I start the essay?

The best approach would be stating your goals and activities in class and out of class. Do this for two scenarios with the scholarship and without the scholarship. Include some outstanding campus activities or club involvement that could be familiar to them such as student government, found a new activity club, etc. Mention to them this would not be possible because you would be working if you did not receive the scholarship money to be used for your college tuition. Good luck!
