Yes.
Here!
Same excuse all other walks of life have. "Idiots" exist. That's just the way it is.
Most people "mangle" the language because they're either poorly educated, or just plain lazy.
Brethren? I don't believe they're accountable to me or vice versa.
Relax, young lady. (ask yourself how I know you're young) You've been here long enough to know that most folks on Answers are morons. To get annoyed at them is beneath you. You're smart enough to figure that out.
To expect others to set an example for you is downright irrational. That was/is your parents job... not mine, or anyone else's. It is up to you to decide who you are, who to emulate, and who you want to be.
Your current attitude is going to get you.... precisely nowhere. There are plenty of really smart, good Christians, along with other folks... you just have to seek them out.

Well, how are grammatical skills tied to Christians alone? Nothing like a nit-picker with all the other heat on here. I think most are looking to meaning and content and even the worst typist or English speaking person gets that across very well. Some people just can't type. And then there's the new generation that have all sorts of computer lingo for texting. In all eternity, what does it matter? Lighten up and hear the message instead of dissecting it. No one wants a grade , just hear some answers. Hang loose and enjoy the journey.

Firstly what's religion got to do with spelling? Secondly what does how many languages you know have to do with other people's spelling? Thirdly why do people with bad spelling need an excuse? Besides this is a very relaxed setting - we're not sitting English exams here - give people a break!
If you're making some effort to spell well then good for you - people will respect you more for it but there's no reason to expect the same from other people...

My hand is up.
Many of the other Christians who post here may doubt my 'credentials' as I see the Bible as mytho-historical work, believe that all paths lead to God, and think that the way to 'follow Jesus' is to follow his example in the actions of our daily lives.
As to my explanation, there is a statistical term called regression toward's the mean. The definition does not fit perfectly, but the 'political christian' beliefs seem to be so codified that the pull some people up (towards the mean), and they pull others down (towards the mean).

While the Jews and the Muslims were insisting that at least half, their population be literate, the Christian clergy were deliberately keeping that skill exclusive to themselves!
So, basically these individuals you speak of are staying true to their roots.
Peace.
PS:
I have to say, I admire you, our questioners' gift for languages. However, we all have our own individual gifts, they do vary considerably. To be fair, one should not judge a book by it's cover...even if it is a grammatical or spelling 'type' cover.
I have dyslexia. When this spell check is not working I am at the mercy of having a good or not so good day, in terms of my ability to navigate spelling.
It is the content of what one is striving to express that matters the most. Especially in a subject area like R&S.
I can be quite biting at times and I do love a good jousting match! However, I have the utmost respect for anyone who is sincerly puting themselves out on here whether or not they are safely behind an Avater. I say this regardless of individuals beliefs...inclusive I am. People have feelings.
I felt I needed to come back and make this comment. Your question stuck in my mind after signing off.
I stand behind my origonal point because it is true and because education is a big issue for some, not all, Christian communities even today.
Peace!
Vicarious! You are delightful! xox!

Many of the people who respond here on YA are young and they use text grammar for convenience. When texting on their phones, it is just much faster to type, " Wen r u lvin on ur trp?" rather than , " When are you leaving on your trip?". They use that same text grammar here. Also, some use street slang because it sounds " cool". Others are just too lazy to use spell check. Yes... like you, I do find it annoying because I know they have been taught grammar and punctuation in school. They can't pass the big state exams without it.

There are "idiots" in every religion. Adopting a tenet of faith doesn't automatically make you smart or stupid. The "idiot" trait usually still persists even after you accept a certain religion's tenets of faith. A lot of people would argue that believers in the religion of Islam who think it's ok to kill "infidels" or that even it is morally right to do so are idiots. There are plenty of Christians who are not idiots and there plenty of people who believe in Islam that are not idiots; not to mention other religions where there are idiots and non-idiots alike.

It seems to be cellphone texting that is producing this type of behavior. Not necessarily those that believe in that murderous deity. The constant use of homophones to shorten the keystrokes benefits only one person: themselves.

Sadly, that particular religion seems to devalue education to the point that its members can barely speak their native tongue. Apparently being able to read and write English might encourage them to read something and formulate an independent thought. Its really sad.

I don't know, it seems for some reason being a member of that particular religion makes a person's language skills go down the tubes.
