I do most of the time. Sometimes the username tells a lot about where the person is coming from.
I answer a lot of questions in the R&S section and sometimes a question can sound serious but really be mocking and sometimes a question can sound mocking but the person is really serious and is searching for an answer. The username can often, (not always) give a little insight into what that person is about.
If I am answering in another section, say home and garden or hobbies, I rarely look at the username.
I do however look at it if the avatar is interesting or unique- I like to see people's creatives sides and am often amazed at how much creativity and cleverness can be packed in a little thing like a username.

I have to admit I do look but it is out of fascination at what I might see and I do not make judgments on looks and if I can answer the question takes precedence over an avatar anyway because an avatar may or may not signify what the real person appears to be .

Yes, well I find that certain people are more likely to ask serious questions while others tend to joke around some. Knowing them by username and avatar helps me know how to answer

Avatars and screen names can say a lot about someone's personality, but I focus on the question instead.

Sometimes... it gives a clue as to their beliefs. Mostly to see if they are known trolls or someone impersonating the opposite viewpoint. It is interesting to note that most believers avatars are happy, and non-believers are angry or sassy.

Most of the time, yes. It gives me an idea of the audience that I'm answering to.

Apparently some people don't bother to look at names or anything like that. I do tend to look at things like that however momof2.
