I'm genuinely curious: Are people really that programable, or are such huge mental blinkers present at birth?

For the sheer overwhelming information of current mainstream scientific understandings, all of which interlock and compliment each other, and in a highly critical, competative and self correcting environment, then to be a biblical literalist in this day and age surely must require no small measure of denial and small mindedness.

Does modern mainstream science scare them, or is it the promise of an afterlife and a high biological pedistal that whets a very fearful and self serving, if narrow minded appetite?

The holier than thou headswell and believing to have all the answers at arms reach must play a role here too, but at what cost to nature's gift of a questioning mind?

Modern Science. You mean those fellows who found life on a distant planet. That planet that is 120 billion miles away. What a joke. How can we take them seriously.

Is there a reason for your bashing or are you just bullying without the fear of repurcussions, nice and easy to do on the net? Science does not scare us, why would it? Apparently, religion must frighten you or you wouldn't have this need to attack us. Why don't you just go hang out in the science section since you believe yourself so very intelligent? I've noticed that most people who declare themselves to be so intelligent seem to have severe limitations in the spiritual department, such as you demonstrate by your actions here. I'm sorry if you can't see anything that isn't printed in black and white, but why should that be our problem? You might want to learn some tolerance for others' beliefs. Intolerance is not a sign of high intelligence by the way, so you may be overrating yourself.

You just jumped to "biblical literalists" from "religious types."

You act like all religious types are the same. That is such a wildly ignorant statement that I don't even know where to start.

Religion does not normally contradict science. Some religions may claim the earth is flat or something. Ultimately, I can only speak for Catholicism. Science doesn't scare me. It strengthens my faith, because it shows just what God can create. Out of nothing.

I'll leave with this parting shot from our late Holy Father, John Paul II: "Science can purify religion from error and superstition. Religion can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes."

Who's holier that thou? sadly, you must be mistaken. You are the one coming off a little pompous here.
You claim to have all the answers you need. Fine with me. I have all the answers I need to. Only I don't personally contain them in my psyche- I know the one who does.
Whatever you happen to think our mentality is perhaps we could swap IQ scores? As that seems to be what you measure sound reason by. I highly doubt that those with religious beliefs actually have the low level of criteria you have ascribed them to having.
Furthermore- anthropocentric- that term would mean that all we think about is our humanity and that nothing else matters to us. That is where you are certainly mistaken. Actually, those with any belief of a higher power consider themselves servants to a higher being. Totally humble and surrendered to something greater than themselves. Kind of negates that whole thought process you got going on there, doesn't it?
Perhaps you are the one a little to focused on humanity. You seem to have severe issue's with those of us who do not believe the way you do. Let it go man. You need to deal with the fact that some of us don't accept scientific theory/hypothesis as fact or law. Many scientists believe in a higher power? Doesn't that make you a little uneasy? Those that you base all of your thoughts on actually believe exactly what you don't believe in. Ironic.

Who says I am self centered? You?
I embrace science and so does my faith. God is the biggest scientist after all. And tell me where in "science" there is proof that God does not exist? Where?
I have no promise of an afterlife in my faith, it has to be earned there are no free tickets. I nor my faith is either self serving or narrow minded far from it.
You assume a lot dont you. Who says we have all the answers? Nature is Gods gift and i respect all of nature.
I suggest you are the single minded one, at least mine is open.

You can't even be bothered to use the spell check function, and you expect me to take you seriously? Honey, please. If you can't do something as simple as that, then what leads me to believe that you've bothered to research any of the things you're presenting as fact?

There's a huge difference between having a questioning mind and knowing what to do with the information once you actually find it. There is no reason for me to take you seriously when you've yet to demonstrate anything but arrogance over your own alleged reasoning ability.

If you want to show off your vocabulary, my friend, you really ought to work on your spelling, grammar, and syntax, as well as your logic skills. They are atrocious.

Your phrase, "holier than thou headswell and believing to have all the answers at arms reach" would describe YOU pretty well, except that it's only dimly comprehensible, like the rest of your tirade.

"The holier than thou headswell...."

You weren't looking in the mirror when you wrote this, perchance? Maybe you should re-read your screed until you understand how insulting and condescending you sound.
