My puppy is adorable ----- when she's sleeping and calm. She is an adorable puppy but when she gets all hyped up, she gets really annoying. Like, biting our hands and feet or scratching the wooden floor. Sometimes, she would even put her paws in her water and it would spill everywhere. I'd really like her to know that what she's doing is wrong so that she wont do it again. I really don't want to hurt her to make her stop. Any suggestions?

She just scratched the floor -- again. and If i say no with hand gestures, she'd try to bite fingers instead and she has really sharp teeth. Then if i bring her away and say no, she'd just run back and do it again.

Hi There! I lost my sweet dog to the bad food and my hubby bought me a new puppy. I will tell you I am nearly 60 and have very thin skin so the puppy bites leave terrible wounds on my arms and hands. That said I will tell you what works for me. If Maggie wants to play she bites that is the way the Mother dog plays with her puppies and the puppies play with each other. Your puppy is simply doing what it knows to do. If the puppy gets too rough with the mother she yelps loud and stops playing. You need to do the same thing. When your puppy starts to bite say NO! BITE! very loud and immediately stop interacting with her. She will learn that when she bites you will not give her the attention she craves. Take your puppy to a groomer or vet and they will trim her nails. They are also very sharp and grow quickly. I put food and water in a heavy ceramic bowl that the puppy cannot turn over. It is very bad to feed a dog or cat from a plastic bowl because there are toxins in the plastic or melamine that can harm them. Use only stainless steel or ceramic food and water bowls. Most of this behavior will stop when your puppy gets a couple of months older. I used a water bottle full of water with one tablespoon of vinegar with my other dog. When she was older and feeling more secure in her enviornment I would tell her NO if she did something I wanted to correct. If she did not stop I would squirt her with the water and vinegar. Dogs hate the smell of vinegar and it usually only took once or twice before she stopped. I would not use that method until your puppy gets to be at least 4 or 5 months old. Your puppy really wants to please you and to show you the love and affection she feels for you. If you stop interacting immediately after saying NO! They will learn quickly not to do it. Hope this helps and hope you are loving your baby as much as I am loving mine. Good Luck

Saying "No" actually does not always work. Pretend you are talking to a friend and somebody says the word "no". The puppy, even if she is doing something right, may think you are talking to her, and she will think she is doing something bad...
I would say, uhh uhh, or you could tap her on the nose.

It sounds like she's a perfectly normal puppy! Have patience - With time and training, she'll grow into a loving, well-behaved dog.

Enroll in a puppy class - It will help you with training techniques and teach her how to respond to them.

Squeeze your dog's nose and make it sneeze. They HATE it. Or when she snaps at you give her a firm swat on the rear.

I think all you can really do is remove her from the place where she was doing wrong and say 'NO' than he/she will listen.
