Some claim that the pope is the successor of Peter, but Peter never let anyone kneel before him. One such guy in the book of Acts tried to and Peter told him pretty much to get up from there and quit doing that because he was just a man. But yet the pope allows such kneeling to take place before him, and its pretty much demanded that as you come into the popes chamber, you kneel and pay homage. Why? Begin the justification process...now.

Acts 10:23-26
The next day Peter started out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went along. The following day he arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends. As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. But Peter made him get up. "Stand up," he said, "I am only a man myself."

I, too, believe that the way the 'pope' is 'honored' is not the way Jesus or God would have them be... they are just people... just like you and me. They are not worthy of praise or worship or my honor.

No, there is no demand to kneel. The kneeling is mostly done by catholic priests and nuns who respect his authority and those who admire the pope, the same as is done for religious leaders of other persuasions, out of deference. You will see lamas, gurus, etc being kneeled to in other countries.
Your question is therefore irrelevant in the light of what is followed in other religions. Nobody pays much attention to it anyway. If there was a Catholic priest who did not kneel, you could tell whether he was a heretic or not. Not a bad idea really.

Men bow to me all the time ... isn't that normal??? (JOKING)

So, I've been at general audience with the Pope JPII; in which no such rituals were discussed ... I'm assuming you have had the pleasure of doing this yourself first hand. In having such experience, I would hope you could share common ground and cherish the experience rather than piss on it.

Even the TV tributes to JPII meeting with Jewish Leaders, Muslims, and other dignataries doesn't imply this. Certainly, some may feel the Holy Spirit move them to do such things ... like with Peter's kneelers ... but hey, if the knee's work ... Why not??? (Use it or loose it)

If I was the Pope, I would worry about the fact I am probably going to burn in Hell most of all.

If I were the Pope, I would worry that the writing on my head numerically equals 666.

And If I were the Pope I would worry most about being the head of the Antichrist system.

I would do all I could to inform people about the importance of being born again....the corruption of Catholic Church and the Vatican, and get the darn Sabbath BACK to Saturday.
And I wouldn't let anyone kneel.

And I suppose those are some good reasons why I am not the Pope.

Well isn't it supposed to be that people like the pope believe/preach that all men were made 'equal'.

This being the case why should anyone bow/kneel before him, spiritual leader or not.

So he would need to kneel before me before i returned the action.

Of course yes, that's why he strugles to death to be a pope, to be honored (praised in another word), to patronize someone and guarantee that the guy is now in heaven, and hopefuly patronized to be a saint someday

If he doesn't enjoy that, he would have forbidden them to do so or told pople through TV and the internet, "don't kneel to me!"

i do not imagine you should kneel to the Pope. maximum folk who see the Pope might want to need to. i might want to assert any queen of a rustic would not ought to kneel to the Pope. So the record might want to be nicely acceptable, yet as a lot because the monarch or perhaps the guy. The Pope is ruler of? Rome, the church? till you submit your crown and united states of america to the pope you would not bow to him. As we do no longer ought to bow to the anti christ. there is not any regulation to bow to all people. even although centuries previous they likely killed you for no longer bowing to the pope and what no longer, because the flexibility grow to be more advantageous than in simple terms church. So for more advantageous positive or worse, till Jesus regulations and takes over, with the wickedness of adult males, per chance that is sturdy, at circumstances both are separate. difficulty comes even as Christians are denied the right to precise their faith. Why can't a baby placed on a Jesus blouse, or gown as Jesus at Halloween or college. that is okay to gown as a devil, vampire, regardless of, yet you droop a baby for dressing as Jesus it extremely is ridiculous and ignorant, of moronic college officials, and each and each and every case must be taken to court for discrimination. united statesa. might want to no longer discrimnate for who you worship, regardless of in case you do not trust their decision of god, that is going for that flyin spagetti guy also.

NO i would not feel comfortable !
To kneel before any religious Authority, and to expect it, is to me a " Holier than thou " big headed ego trip !

As a servant of GOD, the pope should kneel before us mere mortals, this would be good for the ego, and make them more appreciative of the Power that they wield, and i think it would make the followers respect them more !
A little Humbling is good for the Soul....
We are all equel in God's/Goddess's Eyes !
