My sister just ripped her pinky toenail off! She's in pain and its bleeding. How do we treat it? Also, its attached to one corner. How do we get it off? I know this is a weird question. Sorry!

First of all, maybe you shouldn't rip off the rest. If you have gauze, place gauze over it and get to the emergency room or a doctor. They can properly care for it so it heals and she doesn't get an infection. Good Luck!

This happened to me once. Just clean it in water and soap and if you have it use some medical sanitizer and if not then thats ok, maybe just use a little more soap. Then put a band-aid or gauze on IMMEDITALLY. It's not a horrible thing, where you need to rush to the hospital. If shes still in pain tomorrow and it looks really bad, then go to the doctor. Not the hospital. PS.. Don't take the nail off. But, if its causing her pain or irritation, use nail clippers and snap it off.

Do not take the nail off! Wash the area thoroughly with soap and warm water, dry thoroughly, liberally apply antibiotic, and put a small bandaid or two over the nail which should be put pack in place and will aid in protecting the area. The nail will eventually come off and grow back.

Hospital! You don't want it to get infected.
