i have been told hot works. then ive been told cold works. then some say to do both off and on. i really could use some help here deciding. and then along with some kind of exercise or massage. would that be any help or not?

In sports, athletes are generally treated for this and many other types of soft tissue injuries with alternative heat and cold, plus message, TENS unit (electrical stimulation), and whirlpool treatment as well -- in other words, different modes of treatment. If your neck is really uncomfortable, ibuprofen (400 or 600 mgs) can really help.
