Depends on the height of the dam. Taller dams have more pressure available and can use impulse turbine like the pelton wheel. The water under pressure somes out of a vozz le and utilizes momentum to turn the wheel. Low dams use flow and a propeller wheel like a windmill and lots of flow. It still uses momentum + weight of the water .

The Francis turbine is a reaction turbine, which means that the working fluid changes pressure as it moves through the turbine, giving up its energy. A casement is needed to contain the water flow. The turbine is located between the high pressure water source and the low pressure water exit, usually at the base of a dam.

These turbines are 90% efficient.

I dont know what you mean by feedback....it depends on what you are going to do with it. Do you need pressure drop across the turbine, RPM of the turbine drive shaft?, etc.

this could artwork... discover an old motor vehicle sell off and acquire a water pump and an alternator. eliminate the belt pulley wheel from the alternator shaft and replace it with the pump off the water pump shaft. connect your water line to what became the pump water discharge and the suction to a drain. The water could rotate the pump and alternator and bring electrical energy. some differences can be needed to attain your undertaking.
