As mentioned, the Romans used the Latin script, give or take a few letters and so forth. Nowadays, Latin scripts are spread all across the world. Not only in Europe but in Asia (Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines etc) and Latin America.

Don't be confused. Latin is the language family and Latin American refers to South America being influenced by Spanish and Portuguese of the Iberian Peninsula and the peoples are called the Latino people.
