You can control your heart beat completely on your own. Try it. While sitting there at the computer, think about something exciting--thing about being chased by a monster and you are running and running but this monster is like Lord Voldemort and he is going to kill you. Spend 120 minutes thinking about this monster and how you are running. Now take your pulse.
Now you can't get it as high as an actual workout.
Now imagine laying out, nearly asleep with nothing by the sound of the surf lapping. After 2 minutes thinking about that, take your pulse and you'll be down to your resting heartrate of roughly 60 beats per minute.
Also as you work out your heart gets stronger and it doesn't have to work as hard in order to pump the blood. As you exercise and become more healthy, your body when at rest doesn't work near as hard. An active person can have a resting heartbeat of around 50 beats per minute. A fat person may have one as high as 80 beats per minute.

our heart beat slows down when we sleep.if you want to do in this in our daily life is difficult.it is easy to do in resting time.even if we clam down our heart beat will be as normal, only at total rest we get our heart beat normal.we use to do meditation to get this, this is not a religious one, through meditation he get the body clam, but our mind still wanders around.only later (some time) we feel deep clamness, not concentration.we all have a belief that concentration makes clamness ,wrong .concentration is just another thinking of mind.like concentrate to a thing,it makes our mind Work.BUT DONT DO OTHER TYPE MEDITATION YOURSELF.IT MAY HARM YOU.to know this you must know the science of human body, the chemical system of human body, then only you can understand meditation.thanks

yes, with exercise and the right foods..
your heart has a life span too so if it's faster, than it'll die out faster...
but, if it's slower, it'll pump more blood and die out later..

My husband can. It takes a lot of concentration, and I personally don't know how he does it, but it is possible.
