NO. The short answer is because its rude.
The two of you have verbally agreed to go on a date and spend some amount of quality time together, with the purpose of showing your interest and assessing if you'd like to spend more time together in the future (dating, messing around or marrying).
If you answer your phone on a date, you're esentially breaking that verbal agreement. You're saying, "actually, i'm not interested in you and don't care if we want to spend time together in the future."
You don't need to have a short conversation. You have voicemail for a reason and can check your messages later. Heck, check your messages in the bathroom and make a quick call. But, there's no way you should be on the phone in the presence of your date.
I think the only exception would be (depending on your age) is if your parents or a friend told you they were going to check in on you. Then, pick up the phone and say, "Hi Dad. Joe and I are having a great time. I'll call you later."

This is fine in my opinion, especially if you make it really short, however frequent calls can be annoying so you may want to turn your phone on vibrate, and screen the calls that you want to answer. A guy may think that you are not paying him any attention when you keep answering your phone and that will make for a bad date. While we are on the subject texting is a no no as well. I have used it as an escape tool when on a date with a guy that I really am not into especially a blind date. He got the picture and decided to end the date early. So overall use discretion.

No its not really a nice thing to do. Your on a date with someone else. Now if it were your parents then yeah answer it because it could be something important. But Let all other calls go to voice mail. It's considered rude to answer the phone at the table.

I don't think that it is. If you're waiting for a specific call, then it's ok to tell your date that you're waiting for that call then you can excuse yourself and answer the call (but make it short.) Other than that, I wouldn't answer the call in front of your date. If you want the date to go well, stay off of the phone and give your date 100% of your attention. The calls will wait, but your date may find you disinterested.

I personally think its okay.
Because, its just a short convo, just tell them to hold on a second, have your lil convo and go back to talking to him. If he gets jealous or angry over that, than hes an insecure person, and maybe you should think about finding someone else, or working with him to make him more secure.
It could be bad because he may think that theres someone else, and get jealous, and jealousy is the worst thing for dates/relationship etc. Jealousy always causes problems.
Hope this helps.

If your on a date you should only be focusing on two things, your partner, and whatever he or she is saying, not on some person talking to you in a little machine...
(don't worry i know how a cell phone works, just trying to make my point.)
Just leave your phone on vibrate, so that you can receive messages but unless its urgent take the call but otherwise don't

The best thing to do is just keep the phone while you're on the date. To keep it on and answer it would be impolite and quite rude.

Sure, yeah.
It depends on who was calling - if it was your kid *if you're old enough* then answer (HIS HEAD COULD BE STUCK IN THE TOILET).
If it was your neighbor who you know frequently calls to ask if she can borrow a spoon (a.k.a - chat for 45 minutes) then no.

leave the phone in the car....You would pull that **** with me and I would drop you in a heartbeat....I would be wondering if you were expecting a call...say...from another boyfriend or whatnot.
