My aunt was deleting e-mails, and now she can't get her computer to start. The error message states that there is no operating system found. What can I do to help?

many computers will have the serial number on a sticker on the side or back - if you have that you could borrow an install disk from a friend and legall install the OS. Otherwise, the cheapest way to get it is to purchase an OEM version from Ebay or a local computer shop. Better yet, find someone that was an older computer they've retired and use that serial.

I doubt you would need to get a new copy of windows xp. My guess is something was corrupted and you might need to do a repair install. To be honest, if you don't know what to do now, your best bet would be to take it to a local computer shop, then make sure you have installed on her system:

Anti Virus software and make sure it's updated regularly

Anti Spyware software and make sure it's updated regularly

A software firewall, and make sure it's updated regularly

She has deleted some system files so you will a tech to look at her computer.

Start in 'Safe ' mode. Try to get back and invoke the last known stable configuration that worked.
