I have been taking pain medication for almost 18yrs, and if I were you I would switch to oxycodone if you need to take them for a long period of time, due to the tylenol that is in them. The tylenol can cause liver problems, that you don't want. I have liver problems due to my illness, and it's no fun.
Percocet is however the least strong of the narcotic pain medications.
You also need to make sure that you don't take too many of them because you could become addicted to them, get constipated (which can hurt more than the pain you are already having), or even o-d on them.
If you take them as prescribed you should be alright, however, if you stop taking them cold turkey, you could go through withdrawl, which is brutal (I've been there), so if you don't need to take them anymore make sure that you wean yourself off of them slowly.
They are definately bad for you if you take them for recreation, which I don't recommend.
And you can build up a tolerance to them as well, and need to take more of them.
Send me a message if you have more questions.

What is Percocet?
Percocet contains a combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone. Oxycodone is an opioid pain medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic. Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of oxycodone.
Percocet is used to relieve moderate to severe pain.
Percocet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

To clear a few things up... Percocet and Oxycodone are the SAME EXACT THING! They both have Tylenol in them. The one that doesnt have tylenol is Roxycodone. And if you are just taking Perc's for a short period of time you will be FINE. I have been on them for over 5 yrs now and have had NO problems. Of course, I have the LEAST amount of Tylenol in them that I can (325) and am going to be switching to Roxy's soon. Another thing that someone said is that it is the "least strong" narcotic?? Again... not true. Its somewhere in the middle actually. Under it you have your Hydrocodone, Darvocet, Vicoden, (and a few others)... then above it you have you Oxycontin, Morphine, Demerol and so on.
Just be careful because it is a very addictive drug. And just because its "addicTIVE" does not mean that everyone taking them is "addicTED." But your body DOES become dependant on them if used for any length of time. Your body ALSO builds up a tolerance to them and through time you will need more and more just to keep the pain in "check"
Good luck and if you can help it DO NOT get started on opiates unless there is NO OTHER CHOICE!! It binds to the NATURAL opiate receptors in your brain and after time passes your body no longer produces its OWN opiates and your body becomes dependant. Also even IF you get off of them it can take up to 10 YEARS for your body to start producing natural opiates again (depending on how long you have been on opiates and how much you were taking)

Do you have a prescription for percocet? That aside, it fairly relies upon. some human beings have undesirable reactions to particular painkillers, inspite of stress. some narcotics will calm human beings down somewhat than making them nerve-racking. yet whilst it is brought about stress interior the previous, probability is it is going to lower back. in case you may get a prescription for a painkiller, which you need to to attempt a distinctive one.

If you abuse them yes they are. If you are taking them as perscribed I hope not because I'm on them too. The only thing that concerned me was the acetaminophen in them, because every time you take one your also taking that which isn't good for your liver. So I asked my doctor to give me percocets without the other pain reliever and he perscribed Roxycodone. I've been on it for 8 years and no liver problems
