I think the iPod is a great alternative! I just got married and we used a company out of Atlanta for the equipment we provided the iPod and the playlist. We threw a couple of iPod parties before hand to select the songlist with our Bridal Party! We had a blast and the dancefloor stayed packed all night! No Macarena and no Electric Slide! Yooohooo!! It was great! I understand they will be expanding throughout the United States! DJ's get over it!!

I think the ipod is a great idea! She could just have maybe a good friend or family member who wants to help do announcements. That should not be a big deal. But it would be a good idea to make sure the playlist has enough music to last for the length of the reception.

Using an Ipod isn't a bad idea. She just needs to know all the songs she wants played, when they are going to be played (maybe put them in order). Also, she'll need some sort of speaker system. And of course, an MC to make the announcements, which can be any of her outgoing, articulate (and hopefully, not annoying) friends or relatives.

Is the ipod going to keep the party going and is the ipod going to announce when everything is about to go down... NO. Tell her that she needs a DJ to announce her coming in, father daughter dance, when to cut the cake. An ipod can not do that for her.

This could work but remind her that she will need someone to operate the ipod. Someone like you will have to devote his/her attention away from enjioying the wedding to do so. Even if you have it set up to run on auto, there might be times where you'll want a different song or you could even have a malfunction. Also, you'll need an MC - someone to make announcements. I'm not saying it cannot be done, just that you'll want to be prepared and consider hiring someone to do all of this.

First of all hide her Ipod!!!!

Secondly find her a decently priced DJ the cost is what is making her decision on the Ipod.

Thirdly give her a good shake and ask her what she is thinking this is to be the most important day of her life!

Help her organize all of the songs she wants to play at the reception into one playlist. You will need to be aware of the amount of time you want the music to play and make the playlist run for that long so the music doesn't run out before the fun does! :) You don't want the guests to think the party is over! :)

good idea...I didnt have a DJ either as its just a waste of money for something I could do myself. I just burned a bunch of CD's before the wedding and put them in the sterio. it fit 3 at a time so once those 3 were finished, my mom or dad just changed them. no big deal. if it saves her money then let her go ahead and do it.

Keep the DJ busy? :-) I seriously see nothing wrong with that... Her reception, right?
