14th and N is a lot safer than it used to be. The neighborhood has cleaned up a lot; this neighborhood used to be a hot-spot for prostitutes but that's pretty much over. There's still some petty street crimes and occasionally a rise in the hooker traffic but for the most part, it's about average safety for living in the city. There's also a ton of new businesses opening up on the 14th Street Corridor; many new restaurants, bars, furniture stores, etc so there is plenty to do around there, and I expect this neighborhood will just keep getting better.

Not sure but the last time I was in DC, all the porno shops, strip joints, and other like businesses were located somewhere on 14th St. So I suggest you investigate further...

Good Luck

14th St. is completely cleaned up now. No more porn and whores. 14th and N is a safe area, at least as safe as most of downtown. Use normal precautions but don't worry.

The bus is dropping you off in Chinatown, it really is a secure part of city, yet i might want to nonetheless say you ought to follow the common "walk in a set, do not seem lost, etc. etc." merely to be secure.
