well this can be difficult at best with a Nuclear War I suggest you live for the moment partially but with some precautions.....
If a Nuclear War hits I'm willing to bet all the useless world leaders who got us to that point hole up in the big nuclear radiation shelters (cheyenne mountain in wyoming, red river in Colorado etc) and the rest of the general population will be left to fend for themselves.......
But as anyone who has read the DeathLands series by James Axler on Gold Eagle press knows all too well dispite the massive loss of life there will be survivors of a Nuclear War..........
Some will be scattered in enclaves they set up like small cities far enough away from major devastation zones that life will be hard but it is possible to survive and I'm willing to bet some of those enclaves are full of Anarchy and Turmoil when it comes to savage brutal violence but it can work well for some groups that make it through the devastation like the 1 eyed anti hero Ryan Cawdor and his DeathLands Seven in the series (a core group of hard nosed battle veterans fighting and killing evil wherever they encounter it)
So I'm betting no science won't warn folks who don't understand cause in their case Ignorance is bliss for them and for them to die in the first wave of destruction will mean less idiots to slow down the process of rebuilding the world after a disaster of that magnitude the right way........
My hopes are with the world leaders on this one also but am I thinking they give a rat's behind about the working man??? I'm going to have to say naaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! They will only worry about saving their own behinds as a way of saying " I told you so but you didn't want to listen to me idiots so screw you guys!!!"

An all out nuclear war is far more of a potential doomsday scenario than global warming. If there was to be a major nuclear war it would happen quickly and there would be no avoiding it.
Whilst global warming is a reality it is something that's happening over a long period of time and despite the best endeavours of the media to scare people there are schemes that will mitigate global warming. There's nothing to mitigate against a nuclear war.
It would be impossible to survive underground for any length of time as we are completely reliant on the resources found on earth for light, food, water, air, energy etc. Whilst things could be stockpiled in an underground bunker life would soon become intolerable.
As for 'moving' to another planet: No known planet other than our own is capable of supporting human life. Before moving there we would have to undertake a massive terraforming scheme in order to make the planet habitable - this would take hundreds of years and would require more resources than could ever possible be made available. The nearest we could get would be to create a biodome on another planet that could become a 'home' for a small number of people. Even that would take vast resources and the selection process of who would live there could potentially lead to civil disruption on an unprecedented scale.

Dovey,
Don't waste your time worrying about this. The human species is the most resiliant species on the planet. We are the most intelligent (sometimes debatable), the most innovative, the cleverest, and have the greatest self awareness of all other species. As such, we are keenly aware of life and death and choose life every time. If there is any way to prolong our lives in any crisis, or even to save the most people in the event of any pending disaster, it will take scientists, engineers, planners, beauticians, telephone sanitizers and a whole cadrey of other professions to do it.
AND WE WILL DO IT! Why? Because we're a very stubborn species...we don't die out verry easily; we are predisposed to the living condition.
Sleep easy Dovey, this shouldn't be a concern for you at all. There are lots, and lots of Henney Pennys out there trying to make a name for themselves and at the sake of your peace of mind. The next time you hear a report that the sky is falling, ask yourself, "...have I actually seen the sky falling for myself?" If you can answer that question "no." then go on about your business and pass off the report as someone else trying to get your attention so they can sell you something else.

Well, I could care less about global warming. During the early Middle Ages, the temperature was much warmer than it is today, and it was very beneficial for crops, etc. But a nuclear war, obviously, could be extremely problematic. So yes, I definately hope people find something to do about that, and stop worrying about this global warming nonsense.

Never! Most of the scientist are only cared about inventing newer things. They will only be bothered to save us till the end or when it is going to occur !

I'm confident that we don't need any help from scientists or big government. We will survive quite nicely on our own.
