Ofcourse I mean a hypothetical blindness that we assume people from different faiths are.

Atheists think religious people are blind.

Religious think the atheists are blind.

What if youre all right in your own way and none of you are actually 'blind'?

Your sense of seeing is bound to be blind.

I know from the Bible that I can see well regarding some things, but be blind regarding other things. The Bible has absolutes regarding what is right and wrong, and those standards will never change.

We are blind based on God's unchanging perspective, not based on what other people think of us. If we no longer thought everyone else was blind, that would not make it so. If we no longer believed that a dog had a tail, that would not change the fact that dogs have tails!

We are blind when we don't see things the way God does. We see the light when we know what God wants and we follow it. When I am off doing my own thing and neglect my family, I am blind. When I read the word and the Holy Spirit reminds me of my wife and son, and I adjust my schedule to be with them more often again, it is because I have acknowledged that I was in the dark, but have seen the light and repented.

We are all blind regarding certain things. The Word wil show us so that we can walk in the light.

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, 'I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life' " (John 8:12)

I think it is natural for people to think their way is the right way. It only becomes a problem when people use their way of thinking to discriminate against, set policies and practices, and judge others. It is pretty arrogant for any one group to think that they have the "only" and "true" way of thinking. If all religious people would simply embrace the underlying principles of religion ( compassion, generosity, truth, etc) then it should not matter if you believe in Allah, God, Jehovah, etc. I believe religion is a great divider in this country and it's used as a mechanism to put fear into people and it helps create a bunch of people who feel they are moral authorities.

Faith is personal and what others believe should have no impact on your faith. I don't see atheists standing on corners holding signs that groups of people should die because of their sexual orientation and I don't see atheists bombing clinics. These are acts committed by self proclaimed "Christians" all in the name of God.

We would be better off if we did not think everyone else was blind, but it will never happen. For some, to be religious is to be annointed and they feel it elevates them above others and if you do not think like them, then you are lost. I don't know where people find the energy and time to be always worried about what other people are doing. So many need to clean their own homes and look in the mirror before pointing a finger at someone else.

P. June - thanks for the great answer and reminder that there are Christians who remember Jesus' core message of love and ethical behavior toward others.

From a Buddhist point of view, there isn't truly anyone who is "else." We are all impermanent, transient beings living in complete interconnectedness and dependence upon one another in an ever-changing universe. Blindness sounds a lot like obscuration. Buddha simply means "one who is awake," and you become awake by becoming enlightened -- seeing past the obscuration of conventional views.

I think that the only people are blind are the ones who act like every one who doesn't share their belief is blind.I think the world would be a better place if we didn't automatically think,"That person is different!" and after that either,"They must be convinced that we're right!"or "Stay away, they're not safe!" The world would be better if you thought,"Oh, that persons different, That's cool, We all are."

I agree with you. Everyone should be able to worship in their own way. I only have a problem when they come down on me or try to reel me into their fantasy world. I also will give my OPINION when a good conversation is going on

I agree. It is arrogant to think if someone doesn't see things your way they are blind or stupid. Everyone will think what they will and that is a fact.

Probably...

Luke 6:41 & 42 -

Why then do you look at the straw in your brother's eye, but do not observe the rafter that is in your own eye? How can you say to you brother, "Brother, allow me to extract the straw that is in your eye," while you yourself are not looking at the rafter in that eye of yours? Hypocrite! First extract the rafter from your own eye, then you will see clearly how to extract the straw that is in your brother's eye.

I don't know if I would classify anyone as blind, so much as simply wearing shades.
