It is pretty pathetic that people have to sue NASCAR in order to be able to advertise.

NASCAR is trying to monopolize its last rights, I think in order to make NASCAR really great, how can you stop sponsorship? Maybe in 15 years AT&T will sponsor the cup, who knows. I seriously don't think you can burn bridges and especially sponsorship money, especially in this day and age. If NASCAR doesn't allow all sponsors, it will be the demise of NASCAR as we know it now, in 10 years we will have 5 teams left racing, simply because those will be the only companies left that NASCAR hasn't pissed off. This will make INDY cars once again the greatest racing series.

AT&T knows how valuable the marketing aspect of NASCAR is, mostly because it has been proven to be one of the most successful ways of marketing business's. Plus on top of it if they did decide to walk away they would be leaving RCR just hanging and it would look bad anyways.

Secondly people who are complaining about Nextel well after all they did put down around $800 Million to become the sponsor of Nascar. Now compare that to the maybe $20 Million AT&T is gonna put into RCR and maybe a couple extra for commercials and races and such.....

Who the heck do you think NASCAR is gonna listen to?

Amen Brother!!! I think with Nextel's contract NASCAR will eventually screw itself over on certain sponserships. Motorola did eventually get it's sponserchip on 1 race for Robbie Gordon, but after they reminded Nextel/Sprint and NASCAR that they make phones and electronincs that Nextel/Sprint use.

Eventually, I feel that NASCAR and the France family are going to give our sport a bad rep after the courts are through with them. I can see a judge ordering the France family to sell off their share of ISC (which is why Kentucky Speedway is having a hard time getting a race) and also letting AT&T be Buron's sponser.

You are evidently a highly intelligent individual. Will you run for president next year? I am serious...look what we have to vote on. You are absolutely correct. I would not only give NASCAR the finger, I would moon them to boot. People have to sue to advertise and Kentucky speedway has sued to get a race. Drivers went there and loved the track, fans pack the seats...NASCAR is the only one that doesn't want them there.

Yeah this is stupid the only reason this is kepping up is because nextel originally banned motorola as a sponser of the 7 car of robby gorden which is why for some races he had the empty black car.

AT&T can't leave thow becaause they have a contract with richird childress raceing for two more years.

Believe me It AT&T could leave in protest and cause controversy they would but, they can't since it would void contract and the fine would be enormus 1 Mill+

If it was named the Ford Cup, would they not allow Chevy, Dodge and Toyota in. Its kinda of silly to me. They cry that these teams need to get the big dollars for sponsership, but (NASCAR) must approve it first and if we dont like them then you cant use them. Is Nextel that scared of a little competition. If they are maybe they should buy AT&T.

My first reaction would be "See you" but after thinking about it, I am in a contract that would have I imagine) very stiff penilties. I would bite my tounge and wait. I would also look into trying to use smaller logo, just so my name would be out there, then just maxiumize the use of smaller logo.

In a weird twist of fate, AT&T is already getting recognition through NASCAR... Everyone is talking about it...

No, because I would want the corner on the redneck white-trailer-trash-hicks that don't own cell phones yet, and the only way I can truly grab them by the short-hairs and make them listen, is to advertise at NASCAR races!

I think this is going to be bad news if AT&T wins this one, are they going to deny driver's/teams from getting sponsorship dollars? There are so many mergers happenning, AT&T could be the next one fighting to keep their contract valid.
