A former student included me on a long list of email addresses to which she passed along one of those "Fellow Christians! The atheists are trying to keep us from mentioning 'god' on television" propaganda chain-letter pieces.
Rather than ream her a new posterior, I pointed to the sources demonstrating that the chain letter was a lie, and calmly asked her to consider the motivations of the person who sat down and wrote it.
That's close enough to a hug for someone who had just eagerly attacked me and my country.

Atheists don't hate religion, they want the religious to butt out of other peoples lives.

This question is adorable!! No matter where we place our faith in, I think that we all can agree that hugging is good and hating is bad. : ))))
