For the same reason the Germans followed Hitler, the Russians followed Stalin, the Chinese followed Mao, the people followed George Jones, Attila, and on and on. People who are uneducated and disempowered will always follow someone who promises them whatever it is that they want. And they can pretty much get them to do anything, no matter how horrendous, disgusting or unhuman.

Peace and Blessings,

Imam Salim

Whew. Tough question I'm still trying to figure out. I've lived in a Muslim country for a couple of years, where recently there were several suicide bombings (they rarely happen here). All of the bombers were from the same neighborhood - an extremely poor one with no running water or heat, sporadic electricity, garbage and sewage in the alleys. If you have a residence card with that address on it, no one will hire you. People live 10 to a household.

If you lived that way, you would be angry too. If you were marginalized like that, you might follow any means that you felt were necessary.

I don't advocate violence, and other people have lived through that type of thing and achieved greatness, but I think it explains something, anyway.

Now, why they do it in the UK, I don't get. Several notable British kamikazes were of middle-class upbringing. Richard Reid (the "shoe bomber") was half Jamaican and half British, a convert to Islam, and sturdily middle class. THAT, I will never understand.

Who says we follow crazy Imams. I'm a Muslim and i dont know one "crazy Imam" just because there are a few extreme ones does not mean that there are not hundreds of others who are not.
I dont follow Imams I follow the Quran and Sunnah. Imams are leaders in prayer and someone to ask advice etc we dont follow them like sheep.

Why your nappy is wet?

Why you don't follow the teachings of Jesus. He said "I have come to fullfil the commandments of Torah" but you deny the Commandments?

Torah says "One God" v NT says "Three Gods" just because your Apostles (Imams) Paul, Peter and John say in their inspirations?

Who is your master - Jesus Christ or Paul, peter ?

Why don't you seek the Truth!!

They follow angry leaders because theyre angry themselves.

For what reason, I cannot fathom unless Ive been in their shoes.

But anger rarely leads to wisdom.
