"Should'nt we turn the tables on the lost?" Please take the time if you can and read my "p.s." remarks in my answer. (one of the last ones). My concern is Biblestudents07 comment in his Best Answer comment about "the Lord knows how to make grape jelly". And the whole "tone" of his question. Is this how we should be representing our Lord? Whatever happened to compassion for the lost. Even "Bull Horn" in his best answer remarks, "if it offends them, so what?" Has it come down to Christians "gleefully chortaling" because people are on their way to hell?. If so, God Help Us.

To Jan: If you would read some of my answers you would see that I am not a "wishy washy" Christian. I myself have been reproved for being unnessesarly abrubt. And upon reviewing what I said, rightly so. My concern is this being happy about the lost getting theirs. I think that we can talk about Gods judgement without resorting to remarks like "the Lord knows how to make grape jelly". Please look up my profile and find the question and read it for yourself AND my answer. I think then you will see what I mean.

P.S. We know that there is the "offense of the cross". But, "God knows how to make grape jelly, is not the "offense of the cross", it is a Christian being offensive. There is a difference.

Thank you Luke, Sasi, & Joyfilled for the support. It is not the "best answer" award that concerns me. (I get plenty of those. Some probably undeserved) Its this "hardness" of heart & "coldness" shown toward the lost. This is why "christians" are always being accused of self-rightousness and hate toward others. It does NOT point anybody to our Savior.

I read this Q and all the answers and, yes, you are right to flag this up as a warning to Christians. Jesus said we will be judged for every careless word. (Mat 12:36) There are many careless words here on the Yahoo R&S site. I confess to being guilty of some of them, but always unwittingly. When Christians choose to say spiteful, unkind or hurtful things (in written form) they dishonour the name of the Lord. There are some immature answers - and I make no apology for using that adjective because the Bible speaks of growing to maturity, in Christ; of needing the milk of the word, or being able to take the meat of the word. Mature answers always point to Christ in a gracious manner and commend Christ to others. The Holy Spirit is always pleased to own such endeavours, for that is his delight. Let's hope all the Christians checking out this Q will pause to consider their own answers, and to always contribute prayerfully.

Dear Berean,
I just read Biblestudents07's question and his selected Best answer. I usually dislike it when a question goes to a vote because as is so often the case the worst answer gets selected as "best" by some voters.
However in this case the asker overlooked your very BEST answer and chose an answer that was less than the Best.
Whenever I see people who are "gleefully chortaling" I am nearly 100% certain that they are not Born-again Christians no matter how much they protest that they are Christians.
I think that too many people are mixing Christianity and fatalism together.
May God help us!
Edit:
You are so right, Berean. It is not the points that matter but speaking the TRUTH in love. Ezekiel makes it clear that our heavenly Father does not want anybody to be eternally separated from Him. When people realize that they should be sharing the Good News with those who don't yet realize it. We are to be watchmen (Ezekiel 3:18-22) and to give warning but not to condemn. Unfortunately too many people do not obey and they will be held accountable not only for their own disobedience but also the unforgiven sin of those they gave FALSE prophecy to or didn't warn.

I'm not sure who or what question you refer to, but it sounds like you feel that Christians should be doing nothing but saying "God bless you", "praise Jesus" "love thy neighbor" etc etc. and thats great, but you need to realize that the truth is a sword that cuts both ways. Sometimes if something in Gods Word offends someone, they will just have to be offended - it would do them more good to be offended than it would to just sugar-coat truth just to make them feel good. To do that, would make Christians "soothsayers", which is someone who only says whatever is soothing to a person's ears, rather than the truth. Nobody is happy if anyone is hellbound, but in some cases you simply cannot get thru to a person no matter what you do, and in that case, we must realize that everyone has to sail their own ship, even if, regretably, they are sailing theirs into hell. Ever hear the expression: "if the shoe fits, wear it"? Well, unfortunately,
like your "bull horn" guy said, if it offends, so what? Beyond trying to get thru to the person, there isn't anything else we can do,
except allow them to wear that shoe.
Your desire to make Christianity into a religion where all live in a perfect rose garden, and everyone is just walking around all day, arms in the air, praising the lord, sounds wonderful, but its the idea that perhaps a six year old would think of. Grow
up into a mature Christian, and realize that we fight a spiritual war, one that is not always a pretty rose garden, and one where unfortunately, there are those we cannot save. There is one who can save, though, and maybe if that person gets offended, they just may be mad enough to get into the Word, and hopefully the end result will be the saving grace of God. But to just pretend all is peachy in the world, and lie to
people just to keep from offending, is being
deceitful to people.

While I love "Joyfilled's" answer (as usual!) I would only add one detail:
As the old saying goes, "what we have here is a failure to communicate." If I understand "Biblestudent's" perspective, he's a Calvinist. You (and most of the rest of us) are not, and this is where we diverge, because we speak different spiritual "languages."
Calvinists believe that salvation is 100% pre-destined and pre-determined; therefore, there is no need to evangelize the lost. If God has decided they'll be saved, then they'll be saved; if not, then evangelization is a "waste of time."
A very wise Jewish scholar I know once said this: opposing theological opinions are like the banks of a river; flowing between the two is the truth of God. Meaning that neither Calvinism or its diametric opposite, Arminianism, are absolutely correct -- the truth lies somewhere in between.
So on the one hand I understand Biblestudent's point: unbelievers *may* stay that way; if God means for them to be saved, it's by an act of God that they'll get there. On the other hand, I understand your position: we are mere mortals and don't know for sure *who* is to be saved -- unlike God, who knows all things. If we are to fulfill the Great Commission, we should preach the word to ALL, urging everyone to come to God in repentance.

I just dont understand that answer put up there by "Jan". She takes the time to write a well thought out answer, but doesnt take the time to read the Q&A that your referrin to. If she did she would see just what your talkin about. I know Jesus talked a lot about standin up for the truth and not compromising. But I dont recall Him sounding HAPPY bout folks goin to hell. Y'know folks, if you'all are goin to be gettin down on the Berean for being against folks being rude, you think that y'all could take the time to read just what the (blank) the mans TALKING about? I read the stuff. And hes right. And Jan: Your profile says you got a lot of learnin and stuff, do you always just jump the gun before you start writin? Is that what all that fancy education taught ya? Thats kinda rude too ya know. Should look up what the man is talkin about before you speak your piece. When did "standin up for the Lord" mean ya gotta be mean -spirited about it? Well, thats all I gotta say. You hang in there Berean.

incredibly, they weren't the Pope's comments, a minimum of no longer promptly. They have been area of a checklist positioned out by using the Vatican's Congregation of the Doctrine of the religion. The Pope in basic terms authorized them. The checklist mentioned somewhat no longer something new. It basically reiterated the coaching that the Orthodox church homes are bona fide church homes because of the fact they have the sacraments and intensely almost all of the comparable doctrines as Catholicism -- they err basically in no longer recognizing the authority of the Pope. It additionally basically reiterated the coaching that Protestant denominations, because of the fact they abandoned the Eucharist and the different sacraments, are no longer bona fide church homes -- in spite of the certainty that they do contain very a brilliant number of religious certainty and can probably enable their followers to discover salvation. The Pope did no longer -- opposite to media comments -- say that different Christian communities have no technique of salvation. Nor did he say, because of the fact the Toronto Globe and Mail claimed, that Catholics are extra perfect than different Christians. .

2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

I did not read the previous msgs u refer to, but I get the point. for those who are interested in this topic, read Matthew chapter 25 and Isaiah 58. And if u want tot study further, read the life of CHRIST and record the times HE helped others.... HE lived to bless others, and HE also lived a life of example for us to follow. There is a big big blessing in serving others. If a person doesn't embrace that concept then they don't know who GOD is. sad but true.Because HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON FOR US SO THAT WE COULD LIVE. What do we have to give in return compare dto that? only caring for each other even when we are in need.

God's word tell us that he does not rejoice in the death of someone wicked. We as Christians should not either, even more so, we should mourn it as their reward is not what we look forward to as our reward.
It's about time we as Christians search our own hearts and put into action what we preach to our congregations and to the non-believers.
God help us all.
