This is something that has simply been made up by the media and still being promoted by hate mongers and Hollywood.
It is not possible for a network to exist without the support of catholics in general and like ALL humans beings they would not support it.
The word 'cover up' has been overused to a mass degree. There has 'never' been a cover up. If you look at the incidents where 'cover ups' have been reported you will notice they are years ago before new regulations came in.
The new regulations state that any report of child abuse (anywhere) must be reported to the police. This was not done in the past as it was not the law which is why people have jumped on the media bandwagon of claiming cover up.
All this in spite of most claims of child abuse, rapes etc going unreported to the police at that time due to the stigma associated with it. One only has to question, why the victims and their families didn't take the cases to the police if it was the norm.

There is an old saying that goes` A little knowledge is dangerous` people suppose that they know the answer to this scandal and that it is both simple and apparent, the truth however is very different.
First let me say this,`Priests do not become paedophiles, but paedophiles can and do become Priests`
The silly argument that if Priests were allowed to marry would have prevented this scandal is exactly that silly, almost all faithful Priests will tell you that celibacy is not that difficult when you love your Priesthood.
Two reasons I will now propose for level headed logical people;
1. before the whole gay pride concept there was a time when Homosexual men were really frowned upon and seen as a shameful disease, parents of homosexuals actually used the Catholic Priesthood to hide them away, and some entered the Priesthood of their own choice for the same reason,to escape ridicule and shame.
2 There is abundant evidence that during the early years of Atheistic communism many young communist men were placed into Catholic seminaries in order that in the future there would eventually be Bishops and Cardinals of total loyalty to communism, many of these young men were homosexual in nature, and also sexually perverse, which is exactly why they were hand-picked.
The communist regime saw the Catholic church as it`s greatest enemy and still does.

There was a time when it was easier for individual clergy especially involved with children in orphanages and boarding schools to prey on children. Nowadays the lid has been lifted and there is less likely hood for the reprehensible things that happened in the recent past to re occur on the same scale. There is more community awareness and wariness and the hierarchy is loath to be caught hiding any misbehaviour. On the other hand there is a radical decline in the number of people joining religious orders or joining the priesthood. Many religious houses have closed their doors.
The thing to remember is that paedophilia is not something that is notorious to religious organisation only but it has been a phenomenon right across the board in organisations offering services for children.
Nowadays there are strict guidelines and precautions by all who are involved working with children, so the risk is quite significantly reduced.
Do not be too paranoid about what has happened or likely to happen. Be assured that today there are many good and trust worthy people that do wonderful and top quality work with children.
Peace

I think the Catholic Church has been well publicised an other sections of Christianity are still hiding it, surly they cant be the only religion to have this problem, but it is still frightening to think that these priests are being deliberately allowed to carry on in the priesthood, even after being found out, One recent one was even allowed to run a young persons club AFTER HE WAS FOUND OUT Now that is the biggest disgrace of them all. I think the church needs to have a massive public and police investigation, and anyone hiding these people, or what they have done should suffer the same fate as them, and if that were up to me I'd bring back hanging

There is no network. Please stop stereotyping. Yes, I'm hurt that these things happened. The scandal has caused many people to leave the Church. I wish, though, that people would wake up and work to putting a stop to pedophilia. It runs rampant in all walks of life - Jews, Muslims, non-Catholics, atheists. It even crosses gender lines, but no one talks about that.
Pray for all those hurt by this sin, on both sides of the fence, that they may be healed.
God bless.

It is the nature of evil to infiltrate where ever it can and the Catholic Church is not immune. I believe its rule that all priests must be celibate make it more vulnerable that is one reason why I am Protestant surly the best qualification to give advice on marriage and family life is first hand experience.

idk if i would say theres a network, i just think that the role and the power of priests was recognized by peds and they took advantage of it.. there was a cover-up within the church, but i dont think that means there is a conspiracy
but one thing that i find unsettling is how hollywood had portrayed catholic priests in movies prior to 2003-4 when all of this came out. the latest movie that i can think of is mystic river where they portrayed a priest as a ped, and if i wasnt so tired i could think of more that did before this became public

It may be a combination of a strict belief system along with sourrounding laws,
involving what a paedophile is.
You say in english speaking areas.
Areas which have stricter laws perhaps which publically anounce wrongdoings
more than other countries.
I wouldnt say an intentional networked
system more than a belief system that
breeds a delusionional mindset that laws
dont apply to thier actions because of who they are.

The problem in the Church merely shows what happens to all humans if they are not allowed to express their sexuality in a healthy manner.
The ancients had it together. Because they allowed the young to marry when
they became sexually active. And the only sex they knew was in a loving relationship with thier marriage partner.
Today, we force the young to "wait"
until what Society considers them to be emotionally mature, and the young give in to their sexual drive and do it anyway. This alone causes more rebellion in humans, due to the guilt trips placed on them and threats of hell for doing what one is "driven" to do by nature.

"Just because you have a few bad eggs, you can't condemn the whole Catholic Church" I guess you would say that about the criticism recieved by Islam linking them up with terrorism. I think generalising is a problem in all subjects.
