If I were you, I'd do it in post. Although the result probably won't be quite as good if you were using a filter, you will have more flexibility that way, plus, it'll save you money :-). Otherwise, from what I know, you should be able to use the filter. Hope this helps!

i used Cokin A filters on 35mm and video cameras for years. using filters on video such as gradients and star help cure smear problems that can't be fixed later.
