revenue...plain and simple. a welfare or socialism based economy perversely modified by liberal extremists such as the pelosi/ reid regime and taxes pay for all kinds of government intrusion few working people want. and that sad part about it is they want more. low speed limits generate tickets which generate revenue.

Plain and simple...American driver's don't know how to drive. It is much to easy for anybody to get a driver's license in the Untied States. And the stupidity level of driver's here is almost unimaginable. For every 100 drivers that say they are good drivers I bet maybe 5 out of that hundred actually are. Can you imagine running along at 80MPH as you suggest and coming upon a little old lady/man doing 52...and in the fast lane to boot? As mentioned before....the roads are safe at the speeds you advocate...but the people that drive on them are not.

What the???
Look around you, buddy. A large percentage of drivers can't handle the speeds as they are, do we really need more highway carnage?
Tell you what, as soon as we start enforcing the traffic laws we already have maybe we can increase speeds a little, but only after we get those who can't safely operate a vehicle off the roads.
Oh, wait though... I get the impression that you'd be one of the first to go.

Road design does not account for the traffic that needs to be scraped up. That is what slows people down with or without a speed limit.

look at how many accidents happen at highway speeds with congestion, you are obviously dillusional. People have a hard enought ime navigating without going 80 and above. get over it. besides not every car was designed to go so fast, the tires the engine. alot of people do not have the reflexes either.
It is people like you who are a manecae on the highway because you think it should not apply to you. I hope you never kill anyone like a family in a minivan minding their own business only to have a selfish punk run them down because you think its ok to do 140. see you in the news.

a million: I agree that this is a large source of earnings for 'the guy' 2: I even tend to purely see them in geared up up aspects or on aspects of roads the place persons are possibly to be rushing. That feels like the ultimate suited place to place speed cameras to me. 3: i do no longer understand the place you bypass your stats from, yet: "Breaking the fee decrease, or utilising too rapid for the circumstances on the line, contributes to greater effective than 727 deaths and four,555 injuries in line with annum. In 2007, going over the fee decrease replaced into suggested as a ingredient in 13% of deadly injuries. And exceeding the fee decrease or going too rapid for the circumstances replaced into suggested as a ingredient in 25% of deadly injuries." (see source link under) and those are the stats for deadly injuries, no longer which incorporate injuries the place human beings have been heavily injured. 4: this is actual, yet you are able to degree the probability of somebody surviving on impact at speed a as damaging to speed b, to no longer point out factoring in documents suitable to the section, site visitors bypass and highway condition and so on. 5: purely simply by fact a speed decrease is severe does no longer advise you nevertheless would desire to force at that speed and bounds are oftentimes purely decreased on a highway/section whilst there have been a form of injuries. 6: No, the rushing drivers braking to harshly simply by fact they did no longer notice the fee digicam is what motives the injuries. how can a fastened inanimate merchandise be risky? 7: vehicles are to get from A to B. There are race tracks for utilising rapid. 8: considered 'greater secure' via who? If there replaced into the thank you to seize human beings going too rapid for highway circumstances jointly as nevertheless in the fee decrease, then permit the government comprehend, you're able to make a fortune! 9: this is extremely basic to comprehend what speed you're doing purely from the rev's and coping with of the automobile it rather does not take that plenty no longer basic paintings to focus on our environment too. And negative aspects are high quality, yet risking the wellbeing of finished strangers is unacceptable, particularly whilst it is going horribly incorrect.

Sadly, most US highways are NOWHERE up to the standard of sustained 80 MPH driving. Spend 10 minutes on a German autobahn and you'll know EXACTLY what I'm speaking about.
