God is supposed to of given you free will yet if you believe in something else your going to hell!!

Just like to point out that free will should be exactly that. To all who are saying it's something some bearded guy in the sky give us, that would be loaned will.

And just so as you all understand I'm on about the free will to choose between different religions. If god was real he would be able to make us all realise it so we wouldn't have to worry about burning for eternity for what we thought was the right thing!!

It is only wrong if you think about it. If you just accept it blindly and without question, it can actually make a lot of sense. That is why christians are taught not to think and definitely not to question.

Free will is exactly that.....'free'. We live by the choices we make and if we make the wrong choice then we suffer the consequences. We should be grateful that God is allowing us the opportunity to choose, He doesn't have to. The opposite to free will is that all mankind are 'automatons' with no choice but to do what is dictated....note-automatons do not have intelligent personalities...just instructions like a computer. Would you want to be like that??? I think not!!! The Bible says "seek and you shall find." In other words seek God and you will find Him.
Incidentally, I personally believe it takes far more faith to be an athiest than a Christian. I cannot believe that we are here purely by chance, and that man came about by an evolutionary quirk in nature.

Who said anything about 'going' to hell?
Hell is a state of mind that we are born with!
It is clearly manifested by the dual personality of our culture that justify actions of savage brutality in war against citizens of another culture on one hand but promotes tolerance of the same culture on the other. It is a pathological condition called 'bi-polar disorder' where two irrational courses of action pull a country or culture in two directions that are diametrically opposed.
God allows this to happen so that we can recognise our need of salvation from a hopeless programme of running wild with our own wisdom. God can do nothing about our wilful ignorance.
Hell is not a spanky spanky situation. Neither is heaven a reward. It is where you are now that matters. To put it in the shortest algebraic terms eternity+choice=minus now.
The point of living is we have a choice!
Why not try getting your head around the fact that the kind of choices you make are based on decisions that you are not forced to take. But, the decisions you make are always based on judgements, whether right or wrong, good or bad. You don't need to have the existence of God to realise that consciousness of this kind is slave to making choices that either condemn or not condemn.
Then drag this line of thinking (after reading a thousand books on the subject of free will) into the context of eternity that is not a linear dimension and you will perhaps see that you have a need to understand what Jesus meant when He said, 'I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So, if the Son sets you free, you'll be free indeed'.
Free from what? Free from the judgement that you have made in this question about the righteousness of God? Suggesting that hell is uncharacteristic of a loving God or that the concept of hell is so distasteful that it could not possibly be anything that God has made?
Hell and Heaven is a convocation of choice. We already know the two dimensions exist because, as humans, we create the two as environments on terra firma. Every city has two environments, one of terror and lawlessness, the other of calm and neat houses. This is an eternal condition that has not changed on the face of this planet since the beginning of society. So, we already know the two conditions of heaven and hell; they are manifestations of what is already in the mind to do. The street or the poem just simply solidifies the mental state or pathology of mankind.
The ruins of great civilisations remind us of the inevitable outcome of this pahological state that is at war within its own walls. The state of a city is a metaphor for the state of the mind.
Do you think God wants His universe to be populated by people in possession of such double-mindedness as our great civilisations and great cities immortalise? mmm?
Wake up! The toast is burning.

that is because he gives you the option of following him and living an eternity in The Kingdom of God, or living in Hell for an eternity. Free will means it is your choice. If he would have made us robots, what kind of life would that have been? Remember, your life on this earth is like a blink of an eye in eternity. I hope you find the Truth and find your way. God Bless

Sorry, but that is not where the issue comes in. You're speaking of the hypothetical consequence for one's actions.

The problem with the 'free will as handed down by god' myth/concept, is this: God never actually gave Adam and Eve free will. He created 2 beings who were so blissfully ignorant, that the threat (and lie) of immediate death kept them from disobeying his commands. It took the 'father of lies', Satan, to tell them the truth, and, by nature of 'tricking' them into eating the fruit, give them knowledge...and therefore free will. Only by actually knowing right from wrong can one actually have and use free will...

Isn't that a radical idea?

Being omniscient also seems to contradict free will. If he knows what's going to happen, then surely determinism permeates the universe?

But as to your question, its a bit foolish. Do you think that murderers should be allowed into heaven? Obviously if they repent wholly and completely then perhaps, but people are evil because of free will, and they don't deserve God's forgiveness.

That's a christian guilt trip that sadly people still believe in. Only a buffon would think that a loving God would punish his children for all eternity because they couldn't uncover the secret of life.

Well, if humanity is made in gods image, and evangelicals come closest to this picture, this is gods logic.
Tho I'm an atheist, I think for most people free will is the extend in which they want to separate themselves from society.

That's why hell is God's greatest compliment to human free will. You decide if you spend eternity with him or without him. That's like saying it's wrong to put murderers in jail because they were just using their free will

Just because you have free will doesn't mean that you can just go and take anything without paying for it! Try taking a BMW or a new suit without paying for it!

Do you think that your life's choices don't come with a price?

He gave some of us a certain amount of intelligence together with free will. I am sorry if he forgot to give you yours.

Everything is paid for! All choices have their price.

And nobody is going to be tormented after they die - EVER.

THERE IS NO TORMENT AFTER DEATH WHILE DEAD.
