In Islam, God is addressed by the name Allah.
Allah appointed 25 prophets to teach all mankind about the .... right way to reach heaven.
Among the prophets was Abraham, who is the father of 3 main religions on earth today: Jew, Christian, and Islam.
The prophet Moses brought the Jew learning to the Israeli people. And Jew, was specially dedicated, only for the Israelis.
And then the prophet Jesus (Isa, in Islam) brought Christian teaching. The Jew didn't believe that he was a real prophet, thus they kept on with Moses teaching. Christianity was brought by Jesus to the world for all mankind, but Jesus promised, that there will be another prophet - the last prophet - after him: Mohammad.
Mohammad came to the world within the Quraisy tribe. A tribe that's been known barbarians within the Arab society. Mohammad was also the first prophet to be born within the tribe. Thus, Christians follower didn't believe he was the last prophet Jesus had promised. Unlike Jesus who was born a prophet, Mohammad was appointed a prophet when he was 40. The teaching he had to offer was perfection of the teaching Jesus had formerly brought. And the teaching, as Jesus', was addressed to all mankind.
That's Islam.
The basic rules of Islam can be found in the Holly Qoran.
Anyways, lotsa people these days call themselves Muslims and justify their actions to Islam. But in fact, what they're doing are simply disgrading Islam, coz their actions are completely opposite to Islam teaching.
Islam is a religion of peace and it FORBID the use of violence - even against someone who does bad things to you.

The religion of Islam was begun early in the 7th century by a man named Muhammad who claimed to have been visited by the angel Gabriel. During these angelic visitations, which continued for about 23 years until Muhammad's death, the angel Gabriel revealed to Muhammad the words of God (which is Allah in Arabic) in Arabic. These dictated revelations comprise what is collectively known as the Qur'an, Islam's holy book. Muslims, the followers of Islam, believe the Qur'an to be the preexistent and perfect word of Allah. Further, there is no such thing as an English, or any other language, version of the Qur'an. These are simply translations of the meaning of the Qur'an, which only exists in Arabic.

The key beliefs of Islam are that Allah is the only true God that exists, and that Muhammed was Allah's prophet. In fact, by simply stating this is a person considered to have converted to Islam. Islam itself means "surrender" or "submission." Because Allah is the only true God, the religion that worships Allah must naturally submit to him only, thus "Islam." Islam purports to be the one true religion, of which all other religions have derived themselves from or been created in a mockery of (including Judaism and Christianity).

Muslims, followers of Islam, base their lives on the Five Pillars: 1) The testimony of faith: "There is no true god but God (Allah), and Muhammad is the Messenger (Prophet) of God;" 2) Prayer: five prayers must be performed every day; 3) Giving: one must give to the needy, as all comes from Allah; 4) Fasting: besides occasional fasting, all Muslims must fast during the celebration of Ramadan (the ninth month of the Islamic calendar); and 5) Hajj: the pilgrimage to Makkah (performed in the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar). These five tenets make the framework of obedience for Muslims, and are taken very seriously and literally. A Muslim's entrance into Paradise hinges upon obedience to these tenets.

That sir depends on what you choose to base your question on !! There are many aspects in Christianity that coincde with Islam !! (Not to be rude,as I understand your ?) IT would take many volumes and many years to really understand either as belief has to come from WITHIN !! We may disagee on certain aspects but we must still respect the other persons way of worship. I hope that made some sense . Sometimes I get on "a roll" and do not know when to Be QUIET !!!!!!!!!!!

yes there are so many contradictions between the (so called) muslims themselves that it is hard for someone outside to figure out what Islam really believes. Just the Sunni and Shiite division is so big that I find it hard to believe that both are the same Islam. Not to mention the other groups, and the terrorists.
And Shari law I don't want to have anything to do with..gives me nightmares..
I am not being mean, just truthful..
