If this new battery technology is for real it will change our way of consuming energy in a big way. Does anyone have knowledge of this battery and the company out of Austin Texas, or is it all hype?

EEStor is real, whether they meet all their patent claims to the full extent is still up in the air.

They've only had one press release, at which they said that they certified purity of a process, and that they anticipated being on time in their delivery of a working model to Zenn in 2007. If they're not real, we should know by the end of the year.

They have a patent filed, number US7033406, which doesn't mean a thing by itself, but is nevertheless a sign that they might be legit.

A bigger indication is the backing of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a well known investment company, that would certainly do it's homework before investing.

I expect that we'll see something from EEStor. Being a perpetual skeptic, I expect we'll see a better capacitor come out of this, but not up to the patent numbers. Here's hoping I'm wrong and they live up to the hype.

It seems most likely it is hype. It is hard to find much definite information on the web, almost every thing seems to be speculation.
