It's not that i'm a Jeff Gordon FAN per se (i'm a kevin harvick guy) but i still don't understand why everyone HATES this guy so much...is it just a "hate the guy on top" syndrome like why everyone hates the Lakers, Cowboys and Yankees?

Jeff Gordon is to Dale Sr. What the 49ers where to the Cowboys in the 1980's. Gordon ended the Dale Sr. dynasty and the Dale Sr. faithful are still severely soar about it.

Dale Jr. was the one Dale Sr. fans hoped would end Gordon's dynasty much like the Cowboys resurrected themselves in the 1990's. But it was not to be. Gordon is still going strong and may yet see 1, 2, maybe three more Championships before his career is over.

Gordon is shattering records left and right.

Oh, yeah and as some have answered already; he was the first big name in NASCAR to not come from the South; in fact he came out of California. He opened up the gate for all Non-southern Drivers to be in NASCAR. He took NASCAR out of the South and into mainstream America. Today , most of the top ten Drivers are from points hundreds if not thousands of miles from the south.

Sorry all you Dale Sr. Fans but NASCAR ain't for just the South anymore.

First of all he comes in all clean shaver never gets into any wrecks and just won everything in site but that was then also he had the best I mean the best motors money could buy it was in the millions if something went wrong the the plant that made the crank shaft knew before he came into the pits and they had to have a answer why it failed , and this is true with all the top runners they have endless money supply the rest some don't even have back up engines nascar now is all about money money and who has it, don't forget Richard Petty The King Of Nascar Has 200 Wins and back then it was just Richard His Brother Marice Petty Engine Builder And Lee Petty , Everything came out of the Reaper Shed Now In a Museum, and they used the same motors over and over, now the driver just drives, the crew chief runs everything else ,not like yesterday Nascar Fan as well for 40 years

Yes. Exactly the same. You love to hate type of thing you hate that he is so good and hate the he has had so much success and has broke all these records and rewrote the record books and then their is a theory about him and Sr. and Jr. having a rival but tahts not really the case as the rival was just kind of something the fans made up because they hated when the other guy won, but they all had the greatest respect for each other, and if you want to talk about rivalries, then you should say that Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon have had their fair share of bumping and grinding and racing for the win and everything. That's a real not made up rivalry.

First I'd like to comment on the person who trashed redneck hicks. If it wasn't for that southern drawl or the uneducated moonshine runners, there wouldn't be a a sport for Gordon to dominate in. Lighten up on your fellow southern neighbor already...

Now with that out of the way...
Gordon is a force to be reckoned with. He busted onto the NASCAR scene and started dominating. Someone else did this also when they started racing, who was it I wonder. Oh yea! It was Dale Earnhardt. My how people forget their history before the trashing begins.
This could be where the problem originated. Gordon came to win and now breaks many records, so didn't Earnhardt when he came onto the scene. Once Gordon starts to slow down later on in his career, there will be another driver to hate. One that will match Gordon's ability to drive and threaten his records, and undoubtedly the haters will be the old Gordon fans...(It could be his own teammate that they start hating)

I personally don't consider it that they HATE Jeff Gordon, I think most people ENVY him... 76 wins, 4 championships, a beautiful wife and a daughter on the way... what driver wouldn't want that ??? Everyone that picks on Gordon is just mad that their driver's aren't winning... but with Nascar you have to take the good with the bad and hope your driver makes it back to the top. Just like me... Go Gordon !!

because back in the day Jeffy was a whinny baby, when he didn't get his way, or if things went wrong. He has matured greatly in his nascar tenure. I will admit i "hated" him because he had not paid his dues so to speak...
However, he has matured into a decent sportsman, and i think its now time to lay off the guy. One can compare a young Jeff Gordon, to the blockhead Kyle Bush. The new Jeff Gordon of Nextel Cup.

Because Jeff Gordon came on the scene, did not have a can of skoal in his back pocket, was handsome and looked like a "city guy", spoke English (not the southern hick drawl), and he drove like a bat out of hell and won races.

So,....................many redneck, uneducated hicks got jealous and mad at him.

You see, ignorant people cannot respect others, even when they are the "enemy".

I happen to like Jeff Gordon, but unlike the hicks, I do not "hate" Dale Earnhardt Jr. Junior is a class act. I really like him a lot. His jumping into the Kyle Busch car and substituting for Kyle Busch shows another example of just what a true class act Junior is.

It is too bad such a classy man like Dale Earnhardt Jr. has such ignorant, pathetic fans that follow him.

Part of it is the "Hate the guy on top" syndrome, but a lot of it has to do with this attitude. He is an aggressive driver, but when his aggressions are returned he whines about it on TV every time. Watch his comments when he isn't near winning. It always involves someone else doing him wrong.

I personally think he is an excellent driver, but I hate him, too. Mostly because he can't take what he dishes out.
