Please don't tell me to give up my dogs. One is 5 years old, I have had her since she was 12 weeks old. She is very aggressive to new people (we trrained her as a guard dog.) If I gave her away, she would be put down for being vicious. I know I should not have trained her the way I did, so please don't judge. My other dog is a therapy dog to my brother, who is depressed and would be devastated if I gave my dogs away.

It's perfectly natural for you to feel guilty and sad! I'm sure that it has not been an easy decision for you to make, even though you know it is for the best. The only consolation I can give you is that by giving him to a safe home, you are showing your love for him. Please try not to be too sad, just remember that you have given him a better life. There are people out there who will love him as much as you do.

Call the vet's office and have a picture and a personality explanation of your cat and why you have to give it up. Sometimes the vets post these things and sometimes they actually help find a home. Place an add in the paper and make sure that it is going to a real home, not a home that someone is going to sell it to the expieriemental lab. Some people want cats that are litter trained and a persnality they are looking for. Also, call petco or the no kill organization for the adoption for the homeless. maybe a friend or family member would like to adopt your cat. You are sad because you love your ccat. But if those Dogs injure it and or kill it, then think about how sad you would be. make sure that if you place it in a home, that they will let you check up on it for a short time. Try the aspca. The cat will adjust in time. Just don't give it to just anyone, make sure the home will be a suitabile one for your cat, you know your cat. No kids or screaming kids. And make sure they keep it in and spay or neuter it. Once someone takes an animal they must keep it indoors anyway because the cat will try to find it's way home to you. I think you will find a good home out there for it. I bet it will be happier and feel safer too, and it will be. Good luck to you and your cat.

you feel guilty because you love him? Yeah, he's "just a cat" to some people but for you he was someone that needed you...when you got him you understood that you were making a commitment; that this cat needed you to feed him and care for him and love him---it's the same commitment you made to both your dogs and now that there is a problem you have to make a choice in your cat's best interest, keep him and get rid of the pups OR keep the pups and get rid of him...on some smaller level it's like choosing between your children --- you love them both but they can't all be together so you made the right choice the choice that is best for everyone; no matter how hard that choice maybe for you, no matter how much you feel like you've failed your cat...the only way you could fail him now would be to keep him in a home with homicidal dogs or to not be sure of the new home he'll have---make sure it's a good home and you will have no reason to feel guilty, he'll understand

I hope you are able to find someone that you know to take your cat. If you have to give him away to a stranger plan on checking back to see how he's doing. How long have you had the cat? Be sure that given more time they wouldn't get used to each other. Your feeling guilty because as pet lovers we care so much. Good Luck.

The best way might be to advertise, because then you can pick which home he goes to. Just be sure to make you intentions clear in the ad, like 'rehoming free' or 'free to the right home'.
There are shelters that do not put healthy animals to sleep. Just ring around and ask what their policies are. Most vet homes before they let animals go to them, and you may even be able to find out where the cat gets rehomed to.
Good luck, I think you're probably doing the right thing if your cat really is in danger.

You feel so guilty and sad because you love your cat and he is part of your family. If he is in danger, though, you must do it. The same thing happened to me. I had my cat for 13 years and then my family moved to Saudi Arabia and I could not take him with me. I was heartbroken, too. My perfect solution was to give him to a close friend to take care of for me and now I get to see him every time I come home. My friend sends me pictures and I stay up to date on his care and health. If this is not possible, take comfort in knowing you sacrificed your happiness for his well-being and safety. Good luck and take care.

I love animals more than the next. && the longer you keep them the longer it's hard to give up an animal. I wouldn't suggest to give up an animal. Unless you have to. Have you told your dogs no, bad dog, ect. Let them know that it's not right & that the cat is part of the family. HAHA I obivously talk to my animals but when we first got our cat our bostons would stick her head in their mouth && fight with her all the time. Let them know. Dogs understand. My dogs now get along with my cat & we have no problems.

You feel sad because it is sad. I usually don't like to see people give an animal back after taking the responsibility but in your case, it would be best. The dogs have staked claim to the territory.
