My dog has been going to the bathroom in my room for a few months. Everytime I would soak it up with paper towels and use a multi-pupose cleaner so there aren't any spots. It still smells terrible! Recently I shampooed the carpet and pretreated with dog deoderizer - still smells! Any other ideas??? I'm stuck!

The odor soaked throught the carpeting and into the padding. This will definitely get rid of the odor, even your dog won't smell it and want to resoil the area.

1. Make sure any urine left in the carpet is removed by standing on an absorbent cloth., paper towel, etc. to absorb as much as the liquid as possible.
2. You have to go to your pet store and get an enzyme product. There are a lot to choose from but I think the best ones are Outright Pet Odor Eliminator by Bramton and Nature's Miracle if Outright isn't available. Read the directions on the product carefully, following them exactly. Don't be afraid to saturate the carpet, the urine goes deeply through the carpet back and through the carpet pad, so the enzyme treatment needs to soak just as deeply. The urine stains go deep and spread so make sure you cover the circumfrance of the stain completely.
3. Cover the treated area with a plastic garbage bag or a dry cleaner's bag. If there is any lettering on the bag do not let it touch the carpet or it will transfer to the carpet. Weight the plastic down with something heavy- the idea in this step is to keep the enzyme from drying out until it can do it's job, which is digesting the protein in the urine and feces. Leave the plastic in place for at least 24 hours but preferrably 48 hours. Do not take the plastic off at all until the 24-48 hours are up. 4. Uncover the area and allow it to dry thoroughly. This may take a week - 10 days, depending on how deeply you treated the spot. You can let a fan blow on the carpet to help it dry faster. Once the area is completely dry (it must be completely dry) check for odor. If there is still an odor re-treat as directed above.
5. If the odor is gone , clean the area with a good-quality carpet spotter that specializes in pet stains. I like Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover.

There may not be urine in the top fibers of the carpet, but it is in the pad under the carpet and possibly even the subflooring. You are going to need to try an enzyme remover. You can usually find these at Petsmart or Animal Specialty stores. Follow the directions carefully as it will usually include allowing the enzymes to soak for several hours.

IF that doesn't work then you will need to rip out the carpet and replace it. So long as the smell is there (even after YOU can't smell it) other animals will and they will go there also. That may actually be why your dog does if another animal has in the past.

Same here I Have a puppy who constantly pees in the floor no matter how many times I take him out and Everytime I see it I also clean it up but I can still smell the urine. I went to Walmart and in the laundry soap section they have a carpet deoderizer by arm and hammer I think for pet oders and I sprinkle it on the carpet let it set for 1-2 min and then vacume and the house smells great ! I do it at least twice a week though a pretty good size container is 1.97 it usually lasts me about a month

Yeah.. Housetrain your dog ! For a few months.. Yikes, must smell horrible in there!

You should clean the carpet several times. It's likely right down thru the padding and into the wood floor underneath.. Clean it several times and run a rinse of
white vinegar & water ... Should pull the smell up and out. Let it dry COMPLETELY.. Then sprinkle baking soda all over the carpet and work it in.. Leave it for a few days and then vacuum up. If that won't work, then you need replace the whole carpet, padding and all..

The smell is coming from UNDER the carpet. The urine has soaked into the carpet pad and maybe even the sub-floor. You will probably need to replace the carpet, pad and maybe the floor. Sorry...

Why is your dog urinating in your room? Isn't he housebroken? Even if he can't get outside, there are pads and even dog litter boxes that he can be trained to use.

Good luck.
