I think it would be a great thing for your cat, but be careful of bringing a kitten into the household that your cat could be aggressive with. On the other hand, if you bring home another adult cat, it is probably a better idea to bring him a female, versus another male to challenge his territory. Just make sure she is fixed as well. As for the crying when you don't pick him up, cats just love the attention and the more you give, the more they want. Enjoy it. He seems like a sweetheart.

You can get him a playmate, just be aware that there may be some tension between the two animals at first. This is pure territorialism. Soon they will determine who rules and then will become friends.
I run a feline rescue and we always have snits here when a new cat comes in. Within a week or two they all curl up together for group bathing.
As for the cat you have, you may want to work on his desperate attachment. Was he bottle fed? If not, then he was probably removed from Momma too early. Try not to pick him up every time he starts crying. If needed get a squirt bottle to startle him with (you don't have to spray HIM to get his attention), then throw a toy. Distracting him may help him separate a little more and help him to be a normal cat.

Bringing in another cat is better than OK -- it is GOOD! He is still very young and so he should accept another cat. He might be put out at first but eventually he will accept and hopefully even grow to like the new cat. Even if they never learn to like each other, well, at least he won't be BORED.
I once had a cat who was a year old and when I brought a new kitten in, she was horrified. She moved to the top of the refrigerator and wouldn't come down except to use the litter box. But within 2 weeks they were the BEST of friends! Sometimes it takes longer than 2 weeks, it can take 2 months, but eventually they should get along.
Good luck!

Its still a good age to introduce another cat. I found that an older cat (like 5 or older) and a kitten is a harder adjustment for the older cat. Just take you time getting them together. Cats are not like dogs they dont like each other at first (hiss and fight) there's some good ways to introduce them but I would ask your vet. My two wouldnt get along so finally I locked them in the bathroom for a day together and they got that alpha cat thing over with and were buds after that but I am sure theres a better way.
Good Luck

I had a cat and thought she was bored as well so I got her sister from the people I got her from to bring home for her mainly.
When we first brought the new kitten home my other cat would hiss and act insane (she never acted this way before it was so crazy). I was scared to leave the kitten around her bc she acted like she would kill her.
Keep in mind she loves people and is very gentle but this new kitten I guess threatened her. After about 3-4 days she was trying to see what she was about, she would still hiss at her but she would try to lick her and such.
I was not mean to my older cat bc of her actions bc you have to let them know that this new one is not taking their place and you have to give them the EXACT same attention. After all that she warmed up to her. Now 5 months later they are best friends and I could not imagine them apart..
And yes two cats are better then one and really easier for you. They entertain themselves and have fun.

Your kitty is still very young. It would be ok to introduce another cat, but it does take time for them to get use to one another. I find that putting two cats together of the opposite sex they get along together well. Just make sure the other cat is fixed, also. That makes them better pets. Now you will have two babies to spoil. Should be fun. Good luck.

cats do enjoy each others company, but having two will mean that they have less time to spend with you...i'm a dog person, but my wife loved cats and we had a couple which bill the dog tolerated, but they used to gang up on him...yeah. get another cat or kitten, but be sure to be responsible and have him/her neutered early on...

Definitely!!
Younger or older cat doesn't matter I guess, kittens were being introduced to the king (lol~) of my house, initially there's lots of hissing, he even attempted to fight them. But aafter 1 month or so, I found them sleeping together on my bed :)
Good luck to you!!

Yes..Some take longer to adjust, but they will. I've done this several times and you might think they are never going to like each other, but soon you'll see them sleeping side by side or eating from the same dish.

try a little mat or wash cloth get the odar of the other cat, take it in and see what your cat does with it then return it to see what the other cat does, do they love it or do they fight it, that just might give you the answer.
