Get a large mirror for one wall. Don't use a border at the top of the walls. Use smaller furniture and a light shade of paint.

If there is clutter...declutter..get organized. Then remember if the furniture is to big..it will look cluttered also..so evaluate the room...does it need less in it..or smaller furniture. Then a room looks way larger with light colors..walls...carpet..window drapes etc. Dark makes a room seem small..also a mirror placed on the wall that will relect the surroundings gives a great spacious look. Also do your bedding in light colors as well. All this should make a big difference. And some good lighting...with dimmers..so the room can have that certain feel..I hate a room that is so bright I need sunglasses..but at times we need the light for work etc. so dimmers are great! Also have some nice art on walls with some great colors in them..yellows..purples etc. but not many do not clutter the walls either..it will close in the room. Good luck and have fun!

Paint your room a light color, if it isn't already light. Light colors make a room look slightly bigger, and dark colors make a room slightly smaller. More importantly, make sure your room isn't cluttered, and if you have too much stuff, get rid of some.

Any room will look larger if it's well-lit, either by natural light or artificial lighting. Get rid of heavy draperies and open up the windows to let the light of the outdoors into the space. Add more lamps or install track lighting or recessed lighting.

Pale YELLOW! And less clutter. Did anyone know that SPIDERS are less apt to hang out in a bright or light colored room than say a brown, dark or shadowy room. They like the DARK>>>>>EEEEEKKKKK! Yellow is the way to go!!!

use matte paint. if you use one with a gloss, it reflects the light and makes it look smaller
