I was wondering if anyone has gotten cryotherapy (cryo for extremely cold) and how painful it was. If so, did the surrounding tissues inadvertently get burned as well? I had read that sometimes the healthy tissue nearby to the area being treated can get damaged as well. Thanks!

I've had lots of things treated with cryo and I've used cryo on others. Liquid nitrogen treatment, if done properly, shouldn't cause any damage to other tissues. The trick is to keep it very narrowly aimed to the lesion that needs treated. Once it frosts over, a second quick burst of LN is sometimes applied just to be sure the lesion has been treated completely.

If someone doesn't know what they are doing and they spray a wide area, I suppose it could cause a problem.

Cryotherapy Mole Removal

My wife had a big ugly mole on her back removed that way. the first try, the person was afraid to use enough nitrogen. The next person did it right. there was very little discomfort. It was a little red around it, but everything is good now. It isn't instant, It has to kind of dry up and be absorbed by your healing system just like a cut or scratch. There is no bleeding or danger of infection like surgery, no pain.

A couple of years ago they just removed mine right away, but my mother had one taken and apparently it was too deep, so she had to have a second appointment at the hospital.
